The theme of this song is not praise of the kamikaze suicide corps and war.
It is a song which aspires the world peace through the story of the tragedy of the kamikaze corps.The main messages of the song are;

(1) "Anti-war"; not to repeat any forms of warfare ever again. We, all the nations and citizens who live in the present world, have to earnestly learn from the past fault and grief, and should effort to prevent the war.
(2) "Peace"; that citizens of all nations and their families aspired for. We have to effort continuously to make and keep the world peace.

This song has been made based on testimony of my grandfather, who saw the tragedy of kamikaze suicide corps in the Imperial Japanese Army. This song tries to convey their earnest desire for peace.
I hope that this song can contribute to the peace of succeeding generations and becomes foundation for international peace and prosperity.

この曲は戦争や神風特攻隊を賛美した歌ではありません。
ひとりの特攻隊員の悲劇の物語を通じて、二度と戦争という愚かな行為を繰り返してはな­らない「反戦」と、彼らが願ったであろう「平和」をテーマとした曲です。

旧日本軍で戦争と特攻隊の真実を見て来た祖父が語ってくれた想いを元に作ったこの曲が­、少しでも後の世の平和のためになることを祈って。

お母さん、帰省する折に作ってくださった芋煮、大変おいしゅうございました。
手紙を書きながら、お母さんの芋煮が食べたいなと、つい懐かしくなってしまいました。

わたくしはこの戦争を終わらせるため　爆弾を抱えて敵を倒してまいります。
親より先に逝く親不孝者ですが、どうか「よくやった」と褒めて下さい。
お母さんに褒めてもらえると思うと、きっとやり遂げるぞ、と勇気が沸いてきます。

されど、わたくしが倒す米兵たちにも、きっと家族がいて、友人がいて、恋人がいるのです。
敵とはいえ、わたくしが彼らを殺すことで誰かが不幸せになるのです。
そして彼らの家族が、憎しみを以って日本人を殺しに来るのです。
誰も幸せにならんのです。わたくしにはそれがつらいのです。

わたくしが見事任務を果たせた後は、あの靖国神社に奉られるのですよ。
昔、家族みんなでお参りに行った日が懐かしいですね。
真珠湾に向かったっきり連絡が取れなくなった兄は、きっとどこかで生きていると思いますので、
戦争が終わったら二人で靖国神社に来て下さい。お父さんと一緒に待っています。
また昔のように家族四人で会える日を、ずっとずっと待っていますので。

どうかお身体にお気をつけて。
丈夫に産んでくれてありがとうございました。
くじけない勇気を持たせてくれてありがとうございました。
何も孝行できませんでしたが　大事に育ててくれて本当にありがとうございました。
お母さんの子に生まれてきたことが、わたくしにとって最高の幸せでした。

Boiled eddoe, which you made when I went home was very delicious
I became nostalgic while I was writing a letter, and I want to eat Boiled Eddoe again, mother.

I will defeat the enemy by bombs to end this war.
Pardon me, an undutiful son, who dies earlier than you.
Please praise me, saying “Well done!”.
If I think you praise me, courage emerges in me to carry out.

However, American soldiers whom I defeat, also have family, friends, and beloved.
Although they are my enemy, if I kill them, I make someone unhappy.
And their family will come to kill Japanese with hatred in their heart.
Nobody will become happy. It is sad to me.

After I would be able to complete the mission, I will be enshrined in the Yasukuni Shrine.
I feel nostalgia with reminding the day when we went to pray there with all family member.
I’m sure that my brother, whom you have no longer in contact with after he went to the Pearl Harbor, is alive somewhere.
Please come to the Yasukuni Shrine with you two when the war is over.
I’ll be waiting for you with my father.
I’ll be waiting for the day forever, on which we can meet as a family again, like old days.

Please take care of yourself, mother.
Thank you so much for giving birth me to be strong and healthy.
Thank you for letting me have the courage not to give up.
I could not contribute to you in any way.
But thank you so much for bringing me up carefully.
The happiest thing in my life was to be born as your son.
