Late in 2013 Laurent Garnier decided to send a bunch of tracks, under his 'Garnier' alias, out to some of his favourite underground labels...leading to releases on 50 Weapons, MCDE and Chicago's Still Music. Next up is this release on Hypercolour. It's pretty safe to say in the world of 'first class guys', Laurent sure is up there.

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

As the dust finally begins to settle after the release of Pan-Pot's massive album 'The Other', it's time to unleash a collection of heavy hitting reworks from the best and brightest stars of todays techno elite. Through careful consideration and an acute attention to detail, we couldn't be more elated to confirm ten artists we know and love to contribute their unique vision to Second State's first ever remix package.

Kicking things off with a heavily twisted alteration of 'Attention' is Nicole Moudaber and it's a tangled, dark trek through dense acoustic layers of audible madness. Next up is the Hamburg duo

Extrawelt with their twist on 'Optimistic Grey' and they deliver a beautiful blend of emotion and groove they are synonymous for.

Following suit is another passionately romantic number from man of the hour, Stephan Bodzin, and his take feels like floating through a sea of clouds, resulting in a timeless classic to be a focal point in any set for years to come.

Next in line is Ray Kajioka's take on '808 Nirvana' and it's a cosmic ride, ripe with swirling atmospherics laid over big churning drums and rolling cymbals.

Following up on the second 12“ of this LP is a man who needs no introduction: Carl Cox. And in true Coxy fashion he turns 'Riot' into just that: a big room, tension building monster!

Broken Engine' is the next track to get worked over and Wigbert delivers a stunning mix of shimmering tones and growling bass resulting in a lush venture through a cosmic backdrop of flickering stars in deep space.

Joseph Capriati ensues with his vision of 'Fugitives' and he brilliantly keeps the vibe of the original yet adds his trademark big room flair to take it to another level of driving euphoria.

Enlisting the talents of Alan Fitzpatrick to remix one of the slower listening tracks on the album turned out to be magic. With his signature percussion, Fitzpatrick takes the parts and creates a dive deep into sultry smooth waters of seduction.

The first of our last two remixes, which are digital exclusives, come from Paul Ritch and he delivers a grinding rendition of 'Riot', expertly crafted for the more euphoric peak time occasions.

Last and certainly not least is a man on the rise, Kevin Knapp with his twist on his own collaboration with Pan-Pot: 'Get In'. An expertly crafted tech house jam exploding with energy and attitude perfect for any moment, day or night, indoors or out.

No matter the time or place, there is something here for everyone and we are truly fulfilled and honored to present this package of cutting edge artists to celebrate this landmark moment. We know you will enjoy!

Illusions of Power is about political corruption, the collapse and seizure of control, sparring nations, war, drugs, gangs and the fraudulent, media systems that spin it all into rolling, fear-mongering 24 hour loops. Illusions of Power is about the horrors of the modern world and a humanity haunted by its bloodied past. But as every long dark tunnel comes to an end, Illusions of Power too has its glimmers of hope.

Written with an arsenal of hardware gear from the Londoner’s studio in Berlin, Dax J’s Electric Deluxe debut is a militant, yet atmospherical dancefloor assault. As he has proven over a slew of EPs for EarToGround Records and labels like LDNWHT, Deeply Rooted, Clergy and his own Monnom Black label, his sound is a compelling and thoroughly contemporary one. Dax J’s productions are typically mercurial, informed by the past and fortified with a wide range of influences from acid and ambient, to jungle and drum & bass. His EPs are rich, kaleidoscopic ventures involving an array of tempos and moods, and Illusions of Power is no different.

In “Reign Of Terror” and “Harry The Hatchet” on the A-side, and “Zulu Nation” and “The Quest” on the flip, Dax J flexes sinewy techno muscle in his rave-inciting idiom where the new and the oldschool collide. Then in the angst-ridden “Cartagena Square” (built around field recordings from Cartagena in South America) and dreamy breakbeats of “Breaking Visions” Illusions of Power present two very different diversions from the dance. In one there is light and a sense of relief; in the other, shadowy omens of the world are massing. The future is full of promise, but be on your guard.

wAFF's already released three records via the imprint and one via sub-label Hottrax, now comes his fourth instalment and the 'Sick Pleasure' EP is more of the dancefloor-crushing same.

Three rugged and slamming house tracks are included and we've picked our favourite to premiere today. 'Flipback' starts as it means to go on with fierce kicks and a thick, rolling low-end bass rumble. The drops are agonisingly prolonged but anyone who knows wAFF, knows that the release is always more than worth the wait.

Lord of the Isles is a one-of-a-kind producer. Not only does he make the kind of music that leaves us scratching our heads and stroking our chins, he's also insatiably good. Inspired by the sounds and sights of his native Scotland, his soundscapes are a like an audio assault to the senses. Something we're very into. Borrowing from techno, ambient, acid and house sounds, "Skylark" is a flurry of grooves which defies definition, leaving Lord of the Isles very much in a league of his own. Expect a chaotic but still somehow melodic slammer, and you're on the right lines.

"Skylark" is released as part of the album In Waves. Out on 4th November from ESP Institute.

Techno two-piece Slam (Stuart McMillan & Orde Meikle) bring the new double vinyl album Machine Cut Noise to the forefront next month Stuart and Orde's day-to-day proceedings consist of maximum time spent on the road, in airports and hotels; which also forms the creative hub for their music-making. It's this transitory state that largely dominates the vibe on Machine Cut Noise.

With each of the album's eleven tracks handed its own unique energy, this concept is probably depicted most prevalently in "Psalm". There is a deep emotional core found within this programmed 7.5-minute piece. It conjures a direction that 'has been paved by the machines which surround us'. A technophile's voyage into the unknown we strongly recommend getting on board with.

Machine Cut Noise comes out on 28th October on Slam's own Soma Records.

It's time for a new act to make their debut on Graded and Solitary Dancer is the Montreal producer you're going to want to make yourself acquainted with. The 'Desire & Apathy' EP has received a hefty amount of support across the board, with selectors like Ben UFO, Roman Flügel and Axel Boman drawing for it in their sets.

We present the title-track now as a premiere and if you're a fan of staggered, broken beat electro that's steeped in nostalgia then you're really going to dig this. Take a hint of Drexciya and Dopplereffekt and add in some serene synths and bellowing, low-end bass stabs and you've got Solitary Dancer's first ever offering.

'FFF3' is our favourite from the record and for good reason. Although it starts off with a menacing, oscillating riff and pounding kicks it progresses to show off serene synths and delicate clicks and claps. It's aimed at the floor and sits perfectly within the LP.
