Leeds based party On Rotation launches it’s record label with a LP from resident Adam Pits. His debut album ‘A Recurring Nature’, draws inspiration from time spent in nature with friends during a year when clubbing was an impossibility. Over the course of 8 varied tracks, Adam moves between club slammers and spaced-out introspective downtempo with ease, showing off the production skills that have made him one of the most talked about names of late. 

Combining the unique style of his previous club EPs with organic sound design and his own classical cello background, the psychedelic sonic palette is reminiscent of long summer days foraging for mushrooms and other treats from the undergrowth.

A pivotal figure amid London’s queer club continuum, Joshua James follows up an iconic trilogy of releases on Phantasy with a powerful swerve into pure techno with ‘Amber Rush’, complete with a remix by close friend and Phantasy labelmate, Daniel Avery.

Crackling with energy, its pendulous drums reminiscent of The Chemical Brothers in their Battle Weapon mode, Amber Rush’ matches the thunderdome ready scope of a big-room anthem with waves of psychedelic texture. The result is guaranteed rapid-fire synapse tickling within even the best (or worst) adjusted of dedicated rave brains.

Avery’s metallic-tinted reimagining subtly shifts the aesthetic of ‘Amber Rush’, gliding out of the strobe and into the fog. Wisely following the course of undulating euphoria mapped out by James, Avery transforms acid tension into graceful heights and somehow deeper plunges, ultimately settling on a killer groove.

With his second studio long player ‘Anatomy Of A Drum Machine’ due for release on Kneaded Pains later this year, the seasoned DJ/producer Harvey McKay fires out another prequel single, with ‘Glasgow Kiss’.

A menacing tone is set on the lead track, as haunting and tense strings hang over a punishing drum workout and a regimented modular synth refrain that swells with intensity.

Dark synth influences can be heard on ‘Milk Snatcher’, as McKay carves out an industrious and enigmatic track that owes as much to the 1980’s electronic pioneers as it does to the modern-day techno sound.  A powerful cut here from the Glaswegian producer, and a great taster for his upcoming new album.

Radio Slave returns to his Rekids imprint with the perfectly balanced ‘Acid Dip’ single.

The titular track on ‘Acid Dip’ sees Matt ‘Radio Slave’ Edwards in particularly strident form. Riding a broken, stuttered-kick rhythm, ‘Acid Dip’ is a jabbing, insistent slice of UK techno shot through with hardcore and, whilst not skimping on raw power, still maintains the hypnotic nature that inhabits much of Edwards’ work. 

On the flip, ‘Armani’ takes off down a dubbed-out, futuristic Italo infused house workout that, throughout its eleven minutes 28 second span, shows a more dense, layered side to Radio Slave production.
