RIGHT BEHIND THE 8 BALL

I bought my Roland SH-101 Synthesizer in 2001, and this is the first track I made with it in my student room.
The strings are from the Juno 106 and the 808 is just samples, the rest is 101.
The track title is from the 'over the top'  101 LFO sound that sounds a bit liker a police siren when it just comes in. I pictured a classic American movie scene in New York with a police car chase, so that's the story behind the track title.

I'm back in New York with my Spectrum night this Friday, curious to hear if the police cars sound the same as I imagined it 17 years ago.

The artwork I shot myself in Brooklyn a few years back.

It opens up on Knuckle G - Late Night Walk, a smooth lounge goes house track, a loud and soothing ambiance that brings you along with him. Then drops in Le Hutin - Al Dente, a resolutely club friendly track pacing on a slow house beat, filtered vocals and some warm synth patterns. A face closes on Chinau - I've Been Doing My Own Thing, a patch worked sample based track conveying some pure and raw joy, a solid deep house take.

On the other side, Vanderkraft - Ça Pointe embrace a vocal and math-rock approach of house developing throughout the track with an Epic finish. B.K Mik - Since She's Mine follow by with a much cosier approach, from samples to layered synths, this track is coated in smoothness. Nebula's final track Thirsty Guys (Larry G & Pedro de Montelimar) - Deep Sensations is a comfortable outro beared by a slow-yet-groovy bassline and some rich space environment.

After his last release on Dirt Crew in 2017 we are more than delighted to bring back the talented Harry Wolfman. With impressive records on labels like Phonica, Omena, Outplay and Toy Tonics in the last years he has drawn up a fine new selection of music that spans across many genres and moods. This is also the first release for us in the new year after a lil break and it continues to explore the more eclectic approach we are following for a while now since the outings of artists like Dampé, S3A and Dan Only.

Harry presents an exciting opener for his new EP, together with vocalist Christian Crow he has made the blissful and breaks laden “poppy” good feel tune “A Way You Come Home to Me” that shines a bright light in these darker months. Followed by the deeper club tune “Step by Step”, building around yet another vocal recording. This time it’s Harry sampling his own voice and looping it into a repetitive piece of good feel House music.

We are getting deeper on the B side with “Speaking Raman”, one of these signature Harry tunes, a playful dusty lo-fi piece of music build around a piano theme and embedded in deep bass and driving beats, his sound trademark on all of these more floor orientated tracks on the EP. To close out the record we added two of his cinematic, ambient electronica works that we personally love so much. The haunting “Always 3” is a deep sphere that sucks you in a meditational and soothing womb of sounds. Ending with the electroid cut “Green Trees”, it’s broken and fragile and gives this indie-tronica track a warm and gentle touch.

We hope you enjoy these tunes and that they may be your soundtrack to the upcoming warmer months.

'DJ Sneak delivers his ‘Movin’ Parts’ EP via Kerri Chandler’s Kaoz Theory this May, comprised of two original mixes and two dub cuts from the US House maestro.
 
 Carlos Sosa, better known to most as DJ Sneak has long been at the forefront of US house movement, breaking through via releases on Relief and Cajual in the early nineties and still releasing his twist on raw and rugged house today via the likes of Pressure Trax, Ovum and No.19 amongst others. Here though he delivers his latest EP for Kerri Chandler’s Kaoz Theory.

 The ‘Main Mix’ of title-cut ‘Movin Parts’’ leads and sees Sneak lay down crunchy drums, jazzy Rhodes licks and choppy bass across nine minutes. The ‘Dub’ follows, stripping things back to a rawer state with more focus on the rhythmic aspects of the composition. 
 ‘Judy Russell Red’ then opens the second half of the package, bringing swinging jazztinged drums into focus alongside hypnotic vocal chants and wandering sub bass notes. The ‘Dub’ take on ‘Judy Russell Red’ completes the package finally, again offering a more refined take with the bumpy drums and snaking bass at the forefront.'
