Since the start of the pandemic, there’s been a significant increase in the number of people working on their own cars.  And more women than ever are learning everything from oil changes to more complex maintenance and repairs.
 
A group of female “gearheads” in our area from the Seattle-based car club recently gathered at Stew’s Self Service Garage in Kirkland for the first “Ladies Tech Session." They got a crash course on DIY auto maintenance and repair, learning it’s surprisingly easy to do a lot of you own work from basic maintenance to more complex tasks, and can save hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

The present and the future came together Tuesday at the Boeing Classic as dozens of kids got the chance to learn from some of the best at the annual youth clinic, while the stars of the PGA Champions Tour began arriving at the Club at Snoqualmie Ridge to begin preparations for one of the premier events on the tour calendar.

The top PGA Tour Champions pros paired up with amateurs of all abilities for day one of the annual Korean Air Pro-Am.  Among the participants: former Boeing Commercial and Ford CEO Alan Mulally and former US Ambassador to China and Washington Governor Gary Locke.  And last week's winner Scott McCarron arrives hot on the tails of Charles Schwab Cup leader Bernhard Langer.

From the dramatic 787 fly over to a bevy of birdies, the 2017 Boeing Classic got off to a rousing start Friday with majestic Mount Si looming in the distance on a perfect day.  PGA Tour Champions rookie Jerry Kelly cruised to the top of the leaderboard along with an unlikely Aussie who has a craving for Chipotle.  Correspondent Josh Kerns visited with the guy overseeing the exceptional Golf Channel coverage, and reports on the real excitement of the Boeing Classic: the dramatic breakthroughs by doctors at the Benaroya Research Institute and Virginia Mason Health System.
