The piece is part of a poetry project where the poetry of Feline Anema will be put to music by me. Several other poems are already selected for the project. It will culminate into an album, to be release in about a year time.

All poems are in dutch, but with added ancient and fantasy words, creating a weird, outerworldly atmosphere. Think jabberwocky by Lewis Caroll, or Barjemanje by Marten Toonder.

Monkelende Mokke is a short sketch which is mostly in C-lydian, so C-major but with a highered 4th. However, it sometimes uses normal 4th, and sometimes highered 5th, while some other in between notes may also be present. 
This creates a bit a dreamy, weird and exotic atmosphere of nagging tones which are just off, or not.

"Monkelen" is  very archaic dutch for smiling in a bit of a naughty way. 
"mokke" is an ancient dutch word for girl. 

Kwalman uses Cubase 9.5 pro with the Turkish Ney from Eduardo Tarilonte's desert winds.

This is my first composition/production created 100% by myself. An epic piece of music which starts quietly and very cinematic, and which evolves into a rough climax.
With, as a special treat, some polytonality in parts of the piece, and an odd 15/4 signature at the end.

This is the first part of a complete symphony; more parts are to follow...

A piano track with Armenian Duduk as solo instrument, a bit in the style of Wim Mertens or Michael Nyman. However, with some atonality as an extra catch. 

I tried to get a weird though playful atmosphere.

Kwalman is from the Netherlands. Being an enthousiastic music lover for many years, with a collection which covers many unknown and obscure artists, I decided the time was there to start to become a music producer in stead of a consumer. 

I have special interest in music which draws outside the lines. Some of my recent projects involve experimenting with microtonality, atonality, and multi-meter pieces with odd time signatures. 
I hope to create some real original music in this way.
