Med School’s most innovative release series returns. Responsible for delivering the drum & bass scene early stories of Etherwood, Royalston, Stray and Whiney, ‘New Blood’ is definitive of Med School’s ethos when it comes to discovering and nurturing quality talent. With artists constantly redrawing the boundaries of 170BPM, this ‘018’ edition breaks the mould showcasing the weird and wonderful sounds from the genre’s most promising new talent.

Interdimensional waveman Lakeway has mustered up a jukey-jungle hybrid in the form of ‘Lock Off’. Panpipe synths and some big beat steps combine to make the ultimate banger. Keeping things correct is Bristolian serpent Constrict. Choppy snares and flirty 8-bit synth stabs slither together to create ‘Tight Coil’. Both choice cuts for any DJ looking for that D&B curveball.

This internationally spread line-up also features some of Russia’s best D&B exports. A.Fruit’s ‘Tender Love’ is a delectable fusion of footwork and techno rolled into one and Soela’s ‘I Wish You Would Come’ is an ambient spaced out down tempo number.

A myriad of styles from across the globe are the key ingredients for the ‘New Blood 018’ LP. Med School has once again proven its A&R prowess, signalling to the world there is no better home for fresh talent.

1. Simstah - Fragmented 
Warm pads, subtle teases of piano and hearty vocals light up the sparse, but catchy intro from Berne homie Simstah, just to surprise on the drop when switching things to a a gritty bassline funk affair with irresistible groove. The classy track beautifully alternates between two poles, letting the dark contrast with the light and falling back from the leading heavyweight riff to its more emotional undertone again. 

2. OctaState - OMB
Our brother from St Gallen in the far East of Switzerland delivers his trademark simplistic, yet highly energetic style, starting off with vintage style synth samples and vocal chops, enough to build up great tension before unleashing a massive warping b-line sustained by an uberpowerful kick and snare rhythm - peak time tuneage guaranteed to shake the walls of any warehouse

3. OctaState - Trace Tech 
Upbeat minimalist Rave stomper laced with lovely dubbed-out bleeps and effects that is very much an updated hommage to the Tech Step sound dominating the international scene around the millennium years. Faceslapping snares, relentlessly driven forward by the poignant kickdrum and the chest-hitting Sub Bass with maximum impact on the drop, this is anthemic stuff made for the big sound rigs. 


4. Simstah - Memories
Laidback summertime flex for the sunlovers with fat slices of 90s headnod nostalgia to close off the EP with superpowered oldschool breakbeats, rumbling bass hits and musical swooshes of cut-up funk and soul bits, showing Simstahs deep roots in Hip Hop and its sampling culture. If you remember strolling home from La Cinta Beach in Sardinia, this would make the perfect soundtrack.

Soul Deep Digital & Treex are proud to announce the release of the Looped Mind EP, which is now available in all major digital stores and streaming sites.  The French producer has been a mainstay on the Soul Deep imprint, and his latest offering shows off his talent for creating undeniable dancefloor grooves.  The title track, “Looped Mind,” kicks things off in style with it’s snappy drums, cinematic stabs, muted horns, and jazzy piano chords.  “AL” is up next, with its soaring melodies, echoing vocals, pummeling bassline, and rolling Amen drums.  The song progresses beautifully from beginning to end, delivering a special experience for the listener.  The EP is rounded out with the dark, track grooves of “Failure,” and the all out dancefloor burners, “Stop For A Wild,” and “Fightin’ For.”  Treex is truly one of the Unsung Heroes of the scene, and this selection of tracks is guaranteed to draw more praises for his monumental productions.
