Titled after the kind of event that launches careers in the poetry world, "Slam." serves as Kori's official debut record. The cover alone journeys through the many cities that have shaped the sound and flow present in the music. The album itself takes on that same journeying persona by shifting from contemporary R&B/Soul to jazz to hip-hop and back. 

Known for his versatility as a musician, Kori wastes no time showing off his diverse palette through his production work in this entirely self-produced album. The sounds set the canvas for him to sweep words across pages and into the music. Starting with a politically charged track (The Song About Nothing.) and finishing with an introspective and loving dedication to his inner self (Letter II), "Slam." is an album for both the avid appreciator of poetry, and the lover of good stories and great music. Even in lighter-hearted and more playful tracks like "Sundress.", you can hear Kori's budding genius flourishing in the relationship between the pen and the production. 

A constant reminder that the South also has something to say, Kori's work stamps his presence worldwide as a musician and writer combo in the creative world with a sound bred right from America's most fertile artistic region.

"... it's 'Ri from Miami, Mississippi, East Memphis..." | Kori Wallace is a musician and writer known for his heavy, baritone voice that floats over jazz and hip-hop styled musical depictions of his roots in the South. An instrumentalist first, Kori performs mainly on the sax, keys, and produces all of the music for his spoken word projects. His most notable work comes from leading the Memphis-based collective "Southland", which features artists Kengdom, A.D.U.B.B., A. Wal Da Producer, ANTE, and Kem Gray. He has also had the fortune of working with Justin Timberlake, Tower of Power, Tiffany Evans, Timbaland, among many others. Kori has also published an anthology, "The Letter", available for purchase on Amazon.
