Warning to my hip-hop, rap and EDM friends—this is unabashedly pop. 

The song is true. I was on a family trip to Mexico and a very beautiful girl appears in the ocean nearby. I was immediately smitten and my dumb opening line was, “Do you know what time the tide rolls in?” Turns out, the girl is from my hometown and the relationship that followed that awkward moment turned out to be a beautiful thing.
