Probably 30 years ago Mimiko Fujimoto was 15.She was a student from Japan and the only person other than my Mom that could play the Lowry organ I had in my living room at the time. I got my guitar out and played along with her and turned on my reel to reel Akai recorder. This music holds a special place in my heart.

Al and Cliff Gibbs took their guitars and Acetone drum machine to Bassist Dave Nelson's house to jam.However on this day Dave played Piano.The recording is home made and got cut off somehow but when I came across this it brought back fond memories of a nice day jamming and this is all that remains of anything we played that day so I don't want to lose it.

What Have We Ever Learned

I liked the way the composer of Beyond the Sea used the notes of the F Chord  F  A and C To compose the song to move through the Keys F,A and C..  So I moved Above F to G then used the notes of the G chord G,B and D to compose my own tune that moves through the Keys G,B and D. I needed a title so I thought Above and Beyond.I was also thinking about the good people in this world who always seem to go Above and Beyond when helping someone out.

Auld Lang Syne

A beautiful haunting melody written by Johnny Mandel in 1965 for the movie "The Sandpiper". John's middle name was Alfred ,same  as my grandfather's first name and Johnny who was born in 1925 shares my birthday ,November 23rd,Although mine was about 24 years later.  Anyway  I have always loved the melody.So why did I wait so long to record my guitar version???/

Before I deleted Mistermarks New Bossa Nova drum track with my guitar tracks added I figured I would listen to those various takes I did and do another remix before deleting it from my mixer just to see what else it could be like. I thought it sounded a bit nervous, Hence the title.

A Bossanervous New Thing

Fell in love with Guitar sounds since I first heard Duane Eddy twanging out Rebel Rouser. Then I heard  Chet Atkins Hi Fi in Focus album. This was back around 1960.Me and my brother Cliff got guitars as soon as we could and started learning ourselves to play some tunes. Now about 60 years later I am still loving it. I lost Cliff last year but his jazz loving influence is still present in my playing. You can just never stop learning new stuff and ways of playing when you love the sound a guitar makes. My son Bryce also fell in love with guitar and he also is a fine singer. Il be also posting some songs that have been able play along with him.I  just hope there are people who will enjoy the music I play and post, thankyou Al Gibbs
