Juicy

Now, I am reminded of the ancient peoples of the Midwestern USA where I grew up. They created lavish burials for respected people, covering them with the bling-bling of the day (freshwater pearls, mica, copper, seashells, hematite, various exotic flints and stones). They cremated the cut-up human remains in clay basins that were then covered by more colored clay, sand and soil. 
All this taking place inside a large charnel house structure, which was then set on fire to burn down onto the sacred cremains. Afterwards, on the smoldering remains of the timber and thatch house, thousands of basketloads of earth were further heaped to create a large, conical, burial mound. Many of these ancient 'Adena' and 'Hopewell' burial mounds can be seen today throughout the Midwest, but literally thousands of others have been obliterated by farming plows and construction of buildings and roads since the first Euro settlers entered the region in the late 18th century. 
I hope my lyrics and sounds here will help create a vision of one of those ancient, long-lost funerary rituals that took place 2,000 years ago. A forgotten, highly-spiritual moment in man's past that has haunted my mind's eye since childhood.
