BIO: Arts Major is a child of the pandemic and an old man of old men. We once wrote songs about our 20s, then our 30s, and now we find ourselves in our 40s—how about you?

Ani DiFranco once said, “People used to make records, as in the record of an event, the event of people playing music in a room. Now everything is cross-marketing.” Twenty-five years later, her words resonate more than ever.

For us, music isn’t about chasing fame or recognition. It’s about connection—meeting together in a room, sharing smiles, laughter and sorrow, picking up instruments, and playing for the sake of transcending verbal communication in order to feel the rhythm of this place we are all standing upon. 

As musicians, comrades, and friends, we create songs that echo the weight of time, the burden of expectation, and the resilience that keeps us moving forward.

The world is heavy, and we feel it—the sorrow of the displaced, the quiet struggles of our fellow humans who carry more than they let on, the longing for real connection in an age of surveillance and spectacle. 

Arts Major exists in the space, gathering in temporary musical communities to remind ourselves, and anyone listening, that we are here, together.

This is the debut EP from Arts Major. Arts Major follows the coming and goings of past bands like Viking Fell, In Irons, Fractal Pattern, Mass Choir, Black Pills, etc. Arts Major is a band that has found that playing music in a room together as a creative act sure beats not getting together at all. Or perhaps as Nick Offerman says - It's a lot more fun to have eight people with one beer each than one person with eight beers."
