THE ILIAD — A Trap Motown Opera
64-track concept album adapting Homer's Iliad across two volumes: Vol. 1 The Rage and Vol. 2 The Grief.
The human world runs on 808s and Motown brass — Four Tops horns, Temptations energy, Marvin Gaye slow burn. Every track is one voice: Achilles, Hector, Helen on the walls, Andromache at the gate, Priam in the dark. When the gods show up the trap drops and full orchestral takes over, because the gods don't live in the same sonic world as the men they're destroying.
The first word of the Iliad is RAGE. The last sound of this album is silence. In between: ten years of war compressed into 64 tracks, from the plague on the beach through the death of Hector and the funeral that closes the poem.
The summit of the whole project is Track 61 — Priam and Achilles. An old king crawls through the enemy camp at night and kisses the hands of the man who killed his son. Two enemies weeping in the same tent. Two Motown horns and a single 808 pulse. The most honest moment in the oldest war poem in the Western tradition. It hits at 85 BPM the same way it hit three thousand years ago.
