Barcelona post-punk quartet Low Blows is unleashing a Pandora’s Box of frustrations with their new song “I Hate.” The introspective song reflects upon recent years living under constant global crisis – injustices and maladies that range from rights to inequity, peace to war, health to the pandemic, and education to disinformation. The plodding, dystopian soundscape showcases buzzy synths reminiscent of early Human League and Gary Numan, as well as post-punk guitars that bring to mind Joshua Tree-era U2. The droll chant of the lead singer unfurls a steady litany of rage.

“The track is a harsh interpretation of reality, because it was written at a time when the world was not up for celebration,” the band says. “It continues on in this state, but hopefully everything will change and advance for the better. We try to contribute to that change.”

The video for ‘I Hate,’ directed by Cristian Vidal and Amanda González, is a sinister, unsettling wander through the dark, encountering surreal visions, dreamscapes of the past, photo cameos of long-past ancestors, and the cleansing power of fire.

SOUNDS4RESISTANCE is a solidarity fundraising project to gather musicians and creatives together for community support where its urgency claims.

The Palestinian people have been subject, for over 75 years, to incommensurable violence by the hands of the Israeli settler colonial state and the western imperial war machine pretending to keep us safe in the blindness of our capitalist consumerism habits - an ignorance and allowance that kills everyday.

Since 2007, Gaza’s borders are controlled by the Israeli state. This reality perdures despite the urgent demands caused by this offensive.

All profit from this release is followed to Estafette4Palestine: a militant, volunteer-based collective in Brussels that distributes funds between 50 Gazan families living in Brussels; and Fondation Marius Jacob: a radical, autonomous and collective tool that supports grassroots actions, together with Brussels Against Genocide.

Music alone might not save the world but it does bring us together: in the streets, at the dance floor, in communities, in ways of listening to one another, in breaking societal norms.

Bionda e Lupo are like little you’ll have heard before, a boy/girl band like no other. Synth wave is fed a line of modern alienation, delusory disco to a disdainful drum beat, house emptied and ridiculed. Rhythms are stark, melodies are as mechanical as the lyrics. Zug Der Vögel is sparse, vocals intertwine in an empty embrace whilst bars sparkle. Твои Глаза [Twoi Glasza] is more playful. Bright words shimmer against sweeping strings. The past is parodied across the EP but nowhere more so than in Die Kinder Aus Dem Park. A former classic dug out before being peppered by machine gun percussion. The stilted rhyme of Eckstein closes, a ballad of bittersweet images and lost hopes.
