Maybe it’s subtle in its tone, in its rhythm, but something in it kept coming back to me and so I had to release it. When a song I’ve made doesn’t leave me alone, I just have to release it

thoughts of mine

Creatively I like to lean in the direction of things that make me feel uncomfortable. I don’t actively seek it out while I’m creating but if i notice something I’ve done makes me want to pull back, I feel yes this is the right way to go. Its the sensation of a trail led by my gut. If thought tries to get involved it will just mess it all up. That’s not where any of my version of creativity has come from.

Now this is speculation, as my song writing style is stream of consciousness, which is of special importance to this track. I have no intentional meaning behind the lyrics. But based on my knowledge of myself, part of the lyrics may be to do with me processing my own traumas and re-framing them since I have been doing a lot of that sort of work lately. I think alongside that and so probably a related tangent in my mind is processing the feminine perspective in some vague sense. This isn't a continuous theme in all the words. But I see it in some.

Off that tangent is me looking at myself, and as a habit, having some negative stance on how I see myself. I believe that sums it up. After some time I may come to look at this song again, maybe more removed from my current environment, and consequently see a different meaning. But for now I see that.
