THE SKY

Description 

 Switched up is a song about a young boy who fell in love with a decent girl, the girl that made him ‘take a jump’ from high above the clouds. (Only an intoxicated person is said to be high) The boy was a weed smoker, but now that he’s with this girl, she wants him to stop all the smoking — “you made me take a jump, i was high above the clouds, thinking about you & I.” Everytime the boy got high, he always contemplated the future of him and this girl that he is with.. but now she’s switching up on him, young boy is hurting.

                            Verse 1: 
The boy tells the girl that he’s not having any girls on the side (hoes) which probably is the reason that he has two phones. One for his family and gents and the other one is for this girl, he only calls her with it (ironic because, one may think that the other phone is for the hoes).
He then tells this girl that he also has problems, but of course he has to solve them, because apparently at some point he fell off with this girl because the girl had problems in her life and she let them intervene their relationship with the boy. Now the boy has sent flowers to the girl but still hasn’t heard from her about it. (“I’ve sent you some flowers, I just wonder if you’ve got them”) – the boy was ready to be there for this special girl, he felt like her problems were also his, because she’d get moody and bitter (“you’ve been up & low, won’t you tell me your problems coz a nigga here for you anytime that you need him.”)

                          Verse 2:
Their relationship has fallen off and it is clear to see. The boy thinks that it’s his fault that the relationship is falling apart (“...i never acted my age”) but the girl has also changed. The boy feels like their relationship with this girl was just a phase. A phase that he can’t get over. Time goes by and eventually he heals from the breakup and starts to see and learn more about life. He continues to live and now positivity kicks in, he starts running around chasing his dreams, doing what he loves to do. Doors to success start opening up and he says that he ‘ain’t switching lanes’ (he’s not reducing his pace) and he grabs all the opportunities that he comes across — BUT now he starts to miss the girl that he broke up with because he now sees things with a different eye, and he still wants them to share a life. He hopes that she’ll one day call or come to his house and they share a moment once more.
