“Download is based on the idea that our brains are like computers. Like a computer, everyone has default settings that make them think or behave a certain way. Some settings produce healthy thoughts while other settings produce unhealthy thoughts that create mental blocks. In order to change unhealthy patterns and perceptions, people need to delete the old settings and ‘download’ new information.”
WalkJog’s music has always included elements of synth and electronic sounds, but Download is by far the most digital-sounding song in the duo’s repertoire. This vaporwave, synth-pop single has updated retro-elements rooted in the 80’s and 90’s. Keith used his 1985 Casio SK1 to sample and manipulate various sounds from Microsoft ‘95. One notable sound bite is a voice saying “file’s done” exiting the surprisingly unconventional bridge. While the track has many moving parts, they complement each other well. 
The single is the first in a series of three that will be released during Spring 2022. WalkJog recorded their recent singles at the newly relocated Music Box Studios, now in Idyllwild, CA, with producer Jon O’ Brien (Coma Culture).

Lovebirds Keith and Emily Fernandez combine elements of bedroom pop, psychedelic, and nostalgia to form the curiously infectious sound that is WalkJog. The pair met in college where they both studied music, marrying a few years later. Keith is the dreamer, Em the realist. Together they’ve discovered that in being true to themselves they can find hope and balance in all walks (or jogs) of life.

WalkJog represents the interdependence between Keith and Em, and the togetherness that they want others to experience when listening to their music. The band gives voice to pain while underscoring those feelings with a sense of hope and positivity. 

It makes perfect sense that one should experience the need to move when vibing to WalkJog. Based in Orange County, CA, Keith and Emily draw from the loose, relaxed atmosphere that is Southern California to produce the sonic sensation that few listeners regret. Walk or jog? Up to you. WalkJog is for the dreamers, the day-drinkers, and twilight drivers. It’s for the static, the thinkers, and for those who just want to walk on…
