Here you will find opening cinematics, box texts, audio logs and other smaller cinematic radio dramas to help bring the beginners box to life for your players.  Some things here won't work for you, but a majority of the radio dramas fit within the context and narrative of the modules storyline.

Beginners Box

This playlist contains several box texts, and the opening cinematic for the D&D adventure "Dragons of Stormwreck Isle".  Not every box text was brought to life; only the ones that provided the most atmosphere.

The main opening cinematic (The Watchers) is meant to be played on session 1 of your campaign, and will set up certain events from the adventure background; while providing a bit of foreshadowing and action to bring the story to life.

HeroQuest Quest Introductions

This playlist will contain ambiance and special FX for the two encounters found in the "Dead Light" one-shot adventure.  This will be periodically updated as I run these scenarios.

Dead Light & Other Dark Turns

This is version #1 of the opening cinematic radio drama for the Star Wars Edge of the Empire beginners box campaign.  You will find this follows the first few pages of the adventure closely; adding a bit more to the overall exposition, and sets up the initial encounter for your players.  

UPDATE 2023: If you go to my YouTube channel (links on the main page) you can find this audio drama updated with simple visuals, to help bring it to life for new players who often don't know all the character species and planets.  Hope it helps!

EOE: On The Run Opening Cinematic

This cinematic brings to life the box text, found on page 25, of the beginners box campaign.  In this final moment, the heroes manage to steal the ship, and get clear of Tattooine; only to find themselves surrounded by Tie-Fighters.  

This is currently Version 1.

EOE: Up Up And Away! Box Text

This is an opening cinematic radio drama for the "Long Arm of the Hutt" story expansion for the beginners box campaign.  

This cinematic highlights the oncoming bounty hunter threat the players will experience in chapter two, along with establishing one of Teemo the hutts bounty hunters; a kubaz known as Thwheek.  All of this is presented in a way to heighten intrigue; while keeping some of the plot elements a secret.  I hope it can find a home in your campaign!

EOE: Long Arm Of The Hutt Opening Cinematic

This is the closing cinematic for EOE Beginners Campaign.  Both Temo, and the Imperials are now alerted to the players presence; and the hunt begins.

EOE: The Escape Cinematic

A subtle ambient for the cockpit interior of a generic YT1300 transport.  This was used in the beginners box set adventure for "Star Wars: Edge of the Empire".  Feel free to use for your campaign!

Welcome To Dragons Rest

This mini-radio drama brings to life the box text found on page 7 of the adventure.

The box text states that only "three" zombies make their way to the beach, I changed it to "several" zombies, since many DM's might use less, or even more, Zombies to attack their heroes.  A neutral term allowed for more wiggle room for anyone playing the audio at the table to fit their narrative.

Drowned Sailors

This is the opening box text, found in Chapter 3 on page 23 of the adventure.  Here, the characters discover the wreck for the first time.

Cursed Shipwreck

This is my official opening story cinematic for "Dragons of Stormwreck Isle".  It consists of 3 scenes that set up elements of the main campaign, while providing some foreshadowing and mystery to the adventure.  

There are two versions.  This version (Version 1) contains the original ending; with the final scene of the players arriving at Dragons Rest, and no combat.  It is what I call a "soft" introduction.  

Version 2 (the following track) has an alternate ending; with the characters introduced on the ship, just as zombies invade the vessel, killing some crew, and turning to attack the heroes.  Each version is the same, except for the final scene.

Choose whichever version fits your campaign. I think most people will use the first version.  But, if you envisioned your players being ambushed, onboard the cargo vessel, by the zombies...then version 2 is for you!

The Watchers Opening Cinematic Version 1

Version 2 of the opening cinematic has a slightly altered ending.  In the final scene, zombies swarm the cargo ship and attack the players, creating an opening encounter right at the start of the adventure.

Everything else in Version 1 & 2 are exactly the same; except the last scene.

As a DM, you can choose either one that fits your narrative.  Version 1 will have a soft opening for the players, while version 2 throws them right into combat aboard the ship.  

Hopefully one of these will work for your campaign.

The Watchers Opening Cinematic Version 2

This brings to life the captains letter, found on page 26 (Chapter 2) of the adventure.

The Captains Log

This is a mini-radio drama that establishes a bit of motivation for the players journey to Dragons Rest.  This cutscene is best sent out to players before gameday, or even right there at the table for session #1.

The Contract

If you are playing the board game HeroQuest, these are short introductions for the base game.  Normally you would just read these out loud at the table.  I decided to give them some music and FX to make them more interesting.  On my Youtube page, you can find the video introductions that use the same audio, but add in some visuals as well.

This outlines the backstory of Zargon, and introduces the 14 quests your players will embark upon to claim their victory.  I suggest this be played before you start your first session.

Soundscape for the interior of the investigators car during the thunderstorm.  Engine noise, rain hitting the rooftop, and thunderstorm in the background.

The Road

Sounds of the nearly empty cafe, with light kitchen work, a small radio playing in the background, and the thunderstorm active outside.

Orchard Run Cafe

Greenapple Cottage is silent, empty and brooding.  The sound of the thunderstorm resonates outside, as only the sound of a ticking grandfather clock can be heard.

Greenapple Acre Cottage

The sound of someone being consumed by the Dead Light.  Use wherever you feel its appropriate in the adventure.  It is generic enough to be used any location.

The Dead Light Attacks

A single track of the Ghost Light slowly gliding past the players, with an eerie voice trailing behind.

A variation of the light moving through the area, this time with a different ghostly whisper.

The Dead Lights natural movement, without the enchantments and whispers in the background.  However, other eerie sounds emit from its ghostly vapor.

The Necropolis Ambient

A quick audio FX for the abomination rising from its tomb, and stalking the players through the hallway.  This is best used when the abomination first makes its appearance.

The Abomination Emerges

If your players manage to actually throw the dynamite at the abomination and succeed; then this sound FX is for you.  This FX highlights the explosive being lit and thrown, followed up by a reaction from the beast and a swift explosion.  Rocks, and debris follow, with the sound of the giant stone door falling to the floor.

The Necropolis Introduction

Opening radio drama for Rise of Tiamat, Chapter Two "The Sea of Moving Ice".  Taking place in the frozen north, a smugglers ship finds itself caught unawares by an ancient beast. (Final Version)

This is my interpretation of the Draakhorn resonating throughout the realm in Chapter One of the adventure.  In this effect you will hear an earthquake, the dragons voice and Severins distant laughter as the dragons are awakened across the realm.
