Score composers Zach Johnston and Matteo Roberts join Tonko House to share their stories and talk about their collaboration on the memorable film scores created for Tonko House's Oscar nominated short The Dam Keeper (2014) and Moom (2016).

This podcast was recorded in February 2016, but Tonko House continues to work with Zach and Matteo today. More recent works include the score for Tonko House's Annecy Award winning series PIG: The Dam Keeper Poems and the music for the Anime portion of the NHK series Odomo TV.

#2 - Zach Johnston & Matteo Roberts

Erick Oh is a Korean animator and filmmaker - one of Dice and Robert's all-time favorite animators at Pixar and the animation supervisor on Tonko House's Oscar nominated short The Dam Keeper (2014).

Erick is also a prolific film director who directed 10 short films on his own.

This podcast was recorded on April 2016. Erick joined Tonko House later that year to direct PIG : The Dam Keeper Poems, a series which was nominated for an Annie Award and won the Cristal Award at Annecy Animation Festival in 2018. Erick continues creating new projects as a Director at Tonko House.

The filmmakers behind award winning short Borrowed Time– Amanda Jones Lou Hamou-lh, and Andrew Coats – created their independent animated short film while still working at Pixar. 

We know how hard it is to actually "FINISH" an independent project while working full-time, so we dove into the subject to bring you an in-depth discussion of the Borrowed Time production experience in this Tonkocast episode.

#4 - Borrowed Time (Short Film)

Brandon Oldenburg is the co-founder of Oscar winning animation house Moonbot Studios. In 2012, Brandon and William Joyce won the Academy Award with their directorial debut short, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.

One of the first things Dice and Robert did after they left Pixar was to visit Moonbot Studios in Shreveport, LA - an opportunity which greatly inspired them.
