King Imagine & Dararat Chemnasiri - Kun Mae

Recently I was asked to come up with a patch to share on Tim Held's Podular Modcast podcast. I made this patch on my Hordijk instrument to use as the core of a live improvisation. Here is a medley of two brief improvisations.

Cette pièce repose sur l'idée de trajectoire et de traversée d'un matériau très typé (une septième majeure vibrante à l'accordéon) vers un autre monde. Ce matériau trouve son origine dans un travail que j'ai réalisé sur un synthétiseur, inspiré d'un morceau d'Atom TM (« Stromlinien ») dans lequel une nappe synthétique est animée comme en vagues, avec des conséquences timbrales propres à un travail spécifique de l'ADSR (Attaque Decay Sustain Release). Dans son ambiguïté entre Majeur et mineur, cet accord classé se devait d'être assumé en n'étant presque jamais varié, de sorte à imposer une écoute allant au-delà d'un « à priori ». Ainsi, le grain des anches libres donne une texture sableuse à ce matériau, et les cordes tendent à l'attirer dans une autre dimension, celle de l'extrême aigu et du bruit, par des déchirures d'obédience électroniques ou semblables à des cris d'étranges oiseaux dès la première minute. Comme portée par un passeur, la musique prend son sens dans l'accomplissement total de la forme, jusqu'à la toute fin où les objets initiaux se trouvent très altérés tout en étant parfaitement identifiables. Le titre est emprunté au concept de trajection, introduit par Augustin Berque dans « Le Sauvage et l'artifice » et inspiré de la philosophie de Wasuji Tetsurô. Cette pièce opère donc des transferts entre consonance et dissonance, et d'une temporalité lisse ou statique à l'écriture déterminée vers une temporalité fragmentée à l'écriture plus indéterminée (notation relative des intervalles de durées).

Live in the studio recording, circa 2007 in Paris, reworked and remixed Friday November 27th 2020.

Again, from the  masters I got back some weeks ago and I am rediscovering and reworking some music for there.

This is part of a one day session with these extraordinary musicians  this is the only session with the three of us together in the studio. This is the introduction to an instrumental composition we recorded for a producer (documentary) who accepted the mix but later asked for the introduction to be removed.
So this free form 2 minutes remained unused.

I spent some time live and i the studio with Bobby since that day, but completely lost track of Nico, 10.000 Km between us...

Each track was recorded in 2 live takes using Ableton Live a synchronised Tape Recorder.
This is using hardware only Synths & Drum Machines and outboard FX.
Its also my first jam integrating the Deckards Dream CS80 Hardware clone into my set up, so there is a little Blade Runner sneaking into the overall vibe.
