About Film:
The Beekeeper (Greek: Ο Μελισσοκόμος, transit. O Melissokomos) is a 1986 Greek drama art film directed by Theodoros Angelopoulos. The film is the second instalment in Angelopoulos's "trilogy of silence", preceded by Voyage to Cythera and followed by Landscape in the Mist.

The Beekeeper was nominated for the Golden Lion in the 43rd Venice International Film Festival. The film was the first of Angelopoulos's to use an already well-known actor, in this case, Marcello Mastroianni, who by the time has won the Best Actor award at the 1970 Cannes Film Festival once and has been nominated for the Best Actor at the 50th Academy Awards once.

Improvisation

For me dreams are the most common access humans have to their soul and to other realms of consciousness. It is hard to grasp them with words, so I rather let the voice and the melody try to find the way through some scenes of some dreams I had. Many, many thanks to Myckaël Marcovic (@myckael-marcovic) for his impressive knowledge and support mastering the song. He opened me fascinating doors to this totally new field for me - I will try to follow his footsteps in the next songs...

Dreams in the dark

In my dreams I sometimes dive in the wide ocean or in deep water. Sometimes I find myself surrounded with sharks, sometimes I have to find my way through storms.

I always wake up very agitated after these dreams. Diving in deep water is an emotional adventure I tried to capture in this song.

It is really an honour to work with Igor Iofe in this song, who provided these wonderfully delicate trumpet melodies. The song is a trip through landscapes and inner realms, a topic that has always fascinated me. Thanks a lot also to Adam Tucker for doing the final engineering, what a help.
