GET OUT MY HEAD - REDLIGHT (TWEAKIN BOOTLEG)

Mati is a DJ based in Bristol. Drawing on influences such as Drain Gang and the rave cultures of Bristol and London, Mati’s mixing rarely hurries, emphasising the building of atmosphere via the use of mixed media sampling and compelling selection. The mix showcases their influences and this methodology in an ever-evolving and original manner.

Mati’s mix exemplifies an arresting ear for ambience, building into rapturous climaxes oft equally attended by melancholy. The show can feel variously like an ode, an epistle, a tirade - the leaving behind of a person, a declaration of them as everything... somewhere it subsides into the élan of drums and dance. The world built here is a dichotomy between the self-evaporative release of dance music and it’s constant articulation of intimacy. It’s saying of things unsaid, that’ll never not be unsaid, and for that are always enunciated, always palpable and always ignored. Their mix sounds like when you run unplanned - that feeling of half-glimpsed vitality now ambiguously tangible, and the sense that goes along with it of a time running out. Between these two poles is a DJ & a music that soars.
