The soundtrack for Super Mario Bros. is often lauded for transforming the landscape of video game music itself, and rightfully so. But what about Donkey Kong, which released four years prior, and is largely responsible for Nintendo's legacy? Its soundtrack is not looked upon quite as favorably; at a time when music in games was something of a luxury, the simple bass lines effectively set the scene, but their repetitive nature has not stood the test of time. That's why I've transformed the music of Donkey Kong with the help of Konami's brilliant VRC6 mapper, and not only fleshed out the existing tracks, but introduced some of my own compositions as well. Including unused tracks from the arcade version, along with "demade" renditions of my own works made to sound retro, this is my tribute to Yukio Kaneoka.
