Early August will see the release of PAWSA’s ‘Bruzer’ EP on Audiojack’s Gruuv label, backed with a remix from Josh Butler.

London’s PAWSA is a name that’s been at the tip of many’s tongue over the past year due to a steady stream via the likes of Solid Grooves Records, Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD and Green Velvet's Relief. Here though we see the exciting young talent joining the roster of Audiojack’s Gruuv imprint to further propel him into the limelight.

Audiojack : ‘’PAWSA has been on our radar for many years now. While he was learning how to produce music he came to all our gigs in and around London and at well over 6 foot tall he was easy to spot, head and shoulders above the crowd. He sometimes brought demos and it’s been ace to hear him develop and hone his sound in recent years, and be part of his journey from passionate clubber to talented DJ producer.’’

Up first on the package is ‘Trip’ which leads things on a hypnotic tip with murky atmospherics, glitching percussion and mesmeric vocal hooks, before ‘Tau’ lays its focus on distorted drums and a heavy dose of sub bass.

The original mix of ‘Bruzer’ follows fusing a weighty rhythmic foundation with earth shattering sub bass hits and soft chord stabs. Josh Butler then closes with his rework of ‘Bruzer’, delivering a more refined interpretation via stripped percussion, bulbous bass hits and dubby synth hits while introducing an infectious 303 lead to the latter stages of the mix.

PAWSA’s ‘Bruzer’ EP is out on Gruuv 5th August 2016.

!Organism looks all the way to South Africa for its next EP from fast rising talent D_Know, with a fine remix from Re:Axis completing the package. 

D_Know has an undying passion for global music culture and is a key part of Do Work Records. He has also released on ARTS Records and East Recordings and has been on national radio many times. He takes cues from IDM, jungle and trance and is one of the residents at Das Kapital's Overtime in Cape Town, so you are sure to be hearing a lot more of him in 2017. 

First up here, 'Clone' is a mightily powerful tune with surging synths and drums racing along, hypnotising you in the process. It is all about building pressure and working the groove so that dancefloors are totally locked under D_Know's masterful techno spell. 

Then comes the deeper and more cerebral 'Golden Key,' which is about eerie synths, rolling drums and rubbery bass. This one is widescreen and cinematic with plenty of intrigue in the haunting sound design. It then gets remixed by Re:Axis, a Portuguese producer with formal playing skills, a celebrated discography and a singular techno sound. His version is smooth and slick, spaced out and minimal with bleeping sonar pulses and raw claps carrying you off into the galaxy. 

For heady techno dancefloors, there can be no better EP than this one.

!124 : D_Know - Golden Key (Original Mix)

Roman Flügel may be one of techno’s most prolific stars. The Frankfurt artist’s remix of Dark Sky’s ‘The Walker’ is his 10th remix in six months. But this makes it no less of an occasion.

Flügel’s take on ‘The Walker’ channels the loose melancholy of the original but injects it with a bubbling euphoria that threatens to erupt, but never quite does. Over the track’s seven minutes, ethereal voices climb over one another whilst synths gurgle in the background.

The track is a masterclass in managing dance floor tension and has been a staple of his sets of late.

‘The Walker’ is taken from the London-based duo’s new ‘Othona’ album, their second album released via Modeselektor’s Monkeytown Records.

A resident DJ at one of the last bastions of late night clubbing in Belfast before all 6am licenses were revoked, Jordan found new avenues for people looking to immerse themselves into a community of late night dancing in the city. Moving back to Belfast after four years of studying music in Leeds, Jordan quickly began throwing a series of parties in off-club locations such as noodle bars, restaurants, hairdressers and art spaces before deciding to progress into a club environment. Setting up The Night Institute with Timmy Stewart in 2015, the night provided Belfast with a reliable weekly night featuring quality underground music and resident DJs, without hefty door prices caused by overheads from headliners. With affordability meeting quality, the night proved a huge success with club-goers regularly attending, week in, week out. We caught up with Jordan to talk a little bit about Belfast and the Night Institute, as well as DJing trance to 10,000 people at sixteen, his own label Nocturne Records, and further local talent from the city. Featuring music from Roman Flügel, Radioactive Man, Red Axes as well as past Truancy Volume mixers such as Avalon Emerson, our 202nd Truancy Volumes is an hour of Jordan at his best.

"So the remix started out on a lazy Sunday afternoon, i took the vocal and added my own sounds to it. I put a small clip up on Facebook and the response was over whelming to say the least. So it went even further with Garry McCartney (Ejeca) contacting me and asking for a copy to play on his Essential Mix for Radio 1 under his Trance Wax alias. That really spurred me on to finish the remix and get it sent over. So Ejeca didnt get to fit it in to his set for Radio 1 but he started his ABGT 286 Radio Guest mix with the track which was very pleasing. It was then sent to none other than Dave Dresden who owns the Original and he loved it that much that he sent it to Positiva to see if they where interested in releasing it. Never heard anything back so Dave suggested to get it out there for people to hear. "
