Superman brought back from a trip to outer space a living Kryptonian artifact called the Eradicator, which developed a consciousness of its own and began, of its own accord, to transform Earth into an image of the planet Krypton. After Superman defeated the Eradicator, all that remained of his attempt to overgrow Earth with a "carpet" of Kryptonian technology was the Fortress, which Superman kept as a useful facility for emergencies. Now that his girlfriend Lois Lane has fallen off the pedestal of romance, having cheated on him, he uses it when he feels lonely and abandoned. And just like Superman, Zwork has such a fortress. Nobody knows where it is, somewhere in the Oerlikon area. That's why it's called the Fortress of Loneliness....
