תמיד היתה לנו עבודה להתגבר על עצמנו על התאוות ויצר הרע… ועתה נתוספה לנו עבודה להתגבר על עצמנו על הנפילה ושברון רוח שלנו, ולהתחזק בה׳. הן מאוד מאוד קשה הדבר, כי היסורים קשים מנשוא… צריכים גם אנו על כל פנים לעמוד בניסיון הזה… ולהתחזק בה׳.

גם היסורים שה׳ מייסר אותנו תורה הם, וכשהאיש לומד מהם, אז נעשה הקב׳ה בשעה זו מלמד תורה… ונעשה התגלות… ועל ידי ההתגלות בטלה ההסתרת פנים ונמתקין הדינין. וראשית הלימוד שצריכים ללמד מן היסורים הוא האמונה בה׳

 גם איש הפחות מישראל מוכן למסור נפשו לה' בעת נסיון, אף שלהתחזק על יצרו קשה לו, מפני שבאים אז לכבות את ניצוץ נשמתו בכפירה.                                   

לכן אילו היה כל אחד נותן את לבו, שלא על שגזלנו ולא על שעשינו רע לשום אדם אנו נרדפים. רק על שאנו ישראלים, דבוקים באלוקינו 
ובתורתו יתברך, ולא די להם לשונאינו לכבות הניצוץ האלוקי בלבד אשר בתוכנו, רק את שניהם יחד רוצים לכלות, את גוף ונפש האיש הישראלי, כי אז אדרבא היתה אמונתנו ואדיקותנו בו ובתורתו מתחזקת."

וכן תמיד האכזריות של שונאי ישראל, ביחוד מתאכזרים על ילדי ישראל, אם חס ושלום להורגם או לאונסם לכפירה, כנודע מגזירות שהיו לפני מאות שנים רחמנא ליצלן, וכמו שלדאבון לבנו רואים גם עתה שעל כל האכזריות והרציחות האיומות הנשפכות עלינו בית ישראל, הרציחות והאכזריות על הבנים והקטנים עולות עליהם. אוי מה היה לנו."

ובאמת פלא הוא איך העולם עומד אחר כל כך הרבה צעקות כאלה. בעשרה הרוגי מלכות נאמר שצעקו המלאכים 'זו תורה וזו שכרה, ענתה בת-קול משמים, אם אשמע  קול אחר אהפוך את העולם למים', ועתה ילדים תמימים, מלאכים טהורים, אף  גדולים, קדושי ישראל הנהרגים והנשחטים רק בשביל שהם ישראל, שהם יותר גדולים ממלאכים, ממלאים את כל חלל העולם צעקות אלו ואין העולם נהפך למים, רק עומד  על עומדו כאילו לא נגע לו הדבר חס ושלום"
