Theres a lot of people that battle depression, abuse, and many other issues that makes them think drugs or some other negative source is an escape. Many people turn to suicide. Maybe the issue is just a relationship failing, and people waiting till it was to late to do something about it. My question is how many people do we have to lose to raise awareness that the world needs more love? We live in a cold and selfish world, but it doesn't have to be that way if we would care enough to look somewhere else for five seconds instead of the mirror.

James Leonard or better known as  “Conscious” is a music artist from St. Rest, Louisiana striving to not only influence but save the world of the damaged. Conscious began his journey in music in 2016 , since releasing six cds. His style ranges from hip hop and rnb, to edm and pop. With rock being his first love for music, you can see why the artist has a wide variety in sounds. Focusing on meaningful lyrics, and creative melodies, conscious strives to make art through the darkest parts of his mind and the hardest walks he’s journeyed. From topics touching on attempted suicide, heartbreak, drug abuse, and conquering all of his battles, there isn’t a track the artist feels confident an ear can listen and relate to. The rapper once stated on the internet “After getting into trouble with the system, I was forced to move more north from south Louisiana. I grew up in a small country town predominantly white where we were hated for being black. Your own family doesn’t accept you for being you. After having to reteach myself to not only love the color of my skin, having let the system make me feel negative about being black, I had to learn self love all on my own after years of physical and mental abusive because no one taught me. I have seen death , gang violence , happiness and corruption so it’s nothing i haven’t felt. Music keeps me pushing. It saved my life. I do this for a different purpose greater than getting rich. Of course everyone needs money, but if you’re not trying to better human evolution ........ you’re wasting life” The artist is a military veteran, a believer in equality, and a father.  Not afraid to broadcast growth and failure, conscious is determined to continue his betterment in music hoping to be known world wide to be a voice of inspiration to the outcast, the defeated, the misfits, the pessimist , the unheard, broken and forgotten because he is you, because we are one.
