LA ÑAPA is an introduction to the world of Colombian slang and daily life. La ñapa is the little extra you get from the street vendor when buying juice. It’s also the little extra rice or sugar people get when, short of money, they want the tendero (grocer) to give them a little more than what they can pay for, or a good on credit. It’s a reference to the recent events in Colombian and particularly Cali when the post covid crisis and subsequent uprising had the city plunge into poverty and hustle. Nidia is the narrator who observes how the tendero is going crazy over people asking him for La ñapa, with humor and derision.

LA ÑAPA est une introduction à l’argot colombien. C’est le petit extra que l’on peut obtenir lorsqu’on achète un jus de fruit dans la rue. C’est aussi le petit supplement de riz ou de sucre que les gens demandent à leur tendero (épicier) lorsqu’ils n’ont pas assez pour payer, quand la ñapa n’est pas un credit qu’on sollicite. On pense aux événements que la Colombie, et Cali en particulier, ont connu en 2021, lorsque le covid et les emeutes ont fait replonger la ville dans la précarité et la débrouille. Nidia est la narratrice qui observe, avec une pointe d’humour, le tendero assailli par ces solicitations
