"Absolution", Josh White's most recent release, is not so much a new album as it is a deconstruction and recreation of songs from the singer's past. Having written music for the Church for over a decade under multiple identities (Telecast, The Followers, and Pilgrim), White draws here from his three Telecast records, and with the help of his friends Eric Earley (Blitzen Trapper, The Followers), Evan Way (The Parson Red Heads, Ozarks), Daniel Dixon (Greylag) and producer / mixer Danny O'Hanlon, he creates an organic and extremely intimate worship experience. The album also features one brand new song, entitled "Sweet Peace".

Josh White's "Wounded Healer" is the first release for Deeper Well Records, a gospel collective that has been birthed out of Door of Hope Church in Portland Oregon. Songwriter Josh White (of Telecast) teamed up with Eric Earley (of Blitzen Trapper), and friends to create a 70's infused worship experience. Mixing R&B, country, rock, and folk, "Wounded Healer" may draw one back to the days of the Jesus Movement, or push one forward into a new and exciting era of music for the church. The Followers is a bit of a departure from Josh White's works prior to 2009; his first independent since being signed to BEC records. It is an honest and contemplative worship experience that leans more on atmosphere than hooks. It's strength lies in the lyrical content, which includes a reworking of several forgotten Hymns as well as the bands deftly executed arrangements. The record is a memorable experience which may require several listens to catch all it's nuances but is well worth the effort. Also featuring former members of Rock and Roll worship Circus, Ruth, Esterlyn, and Starfield.

Walk With Me

Pilgrim is Josh White's first electronic incarnation, envisioned and recorded in 2013, with production and mixing help from Josiah Sherman (who has worked previously with Frank Ocean, Motopony, and The Dandy Warhols). Inspired by the soundtrack of his youth, the record draws deeply from White's love of glam, new wave, and trip-hop. It's as if Roxy Music merged with New Order, and was remixed by Massive Attack. If there are parameters for what is appropriate for "sacred music", this record most definitely breaks that mold.
