Kick It Out!

"Fields Of Hay" was quite a challenge indeed. What originated as a simple riff turned into an epic task although most people seem to be happy with the end result.
Due to Covid lockdown restrictions I wasn't able to get any local singers. The song sat incomplete for weeks until a friend introduced me to a website called Fiverr. 
I was able to contact a Pro Session musician called Alex D who helped out with the vocal. He is based in Cyprus on the other side of the planet. We bounced ideas and MP3's off each other until the final mix and song was completed! Thank goodness for technology! Please enjoy!

Co written with Craig Small. I remember being asked to lay down some acoustic guitar solos near the end of the song which were completely unrehearsed. Most of them were captured on the first take. The pressure was on but that's when the magic happens!

The song relates to strength, finding the strength to give something or to give someone away.

I thought I’d write a song about what we are all going through right now. I wrote the lyrics in one go. They just flowed out easily. I also sung it in one go on the first take and kept it as I liked the energy there. It felt more spontaneous. Anyway enjoy folks! 😉

COVID-19

One of my favourite songs. 
The song was born in a very unique way. I was travelling down an escalator at Kings Cross train station in Sydney. There was a shoe shop at the top of the escalator who had their radio on. At the bottom of the escalator was a flower shop who had their radio on too. When I got half way down the two radio songs blended and created the melody. 
Having realised that I'd found a gem I hummed the melody over and over on the train until I got home as I was worried that I'd forget it. 
I managed to get the idea down on paper and played it on guitar. This recording was done in one take at a music college in the city late one evening in 1998. I can still feel the energy we captured in the recording as its very emotional and haunting.

Originally intended as a comedy track, Doosh Doosh became one of the most favourite tracks off the 1998 Astral Taxi album "Morph 4 U".
Co written with Craig Small this track was a lot of fun to record. The epic guitar solo near the end was done in one take after several hours of partying. Hope you can feel the fun vibe that was intended.
