A fun dance-like song I wrote spontaneously at the Maryland Renaissance Festival, as I manned my friend’s Bubble Cart. I was one of the first Bubble Fairies to bring delightful soap bubbles to children of all ages. My name was either Sparkles or Sudsy, depending on which costume you caught me in. The bubbles need to rest now and then, as the foam dies down. My friend said I could bring my violin and play to continue to amuse the patrons. I didn’t have any era-appropriate music to play, and everything I knew was an anachronism. So, I made this song up. It’s been one of my favorites, ever since. 

This version is me playing it with a small gold “pickup” on the bridge through new amplifier, while playing my acoustic violin. About year 2000 or so. 

In 2023, I decided to finally give this little song a name - “Jodi’s Jig.”

I’m a Jill of many creative trades. I’m an author, trained circus performer, artist, painter, cartoonist, mom of grown offspring, and violinist. I fell in love with stringed instruments (the upright bass) when my mum used to take me to jazz clubs when I was a little girl. I saw a boy playing a violin on Sesame Street when I was about 5 years old, and I said, “I want to do that!” I kept saying it, and in 4th grade, I finally got to start learning in school and with a private teacher. I went on to also learn viola and piano (a bit). 

I was a jazz DJ in college. That was so much fun. I loved it so much!

I played acoustic violin for about 25 years or so, and then put it away to start a family. I’ve brought it back out recently, I’m now in my 50s, and I’m accomplishing goals I set for myself over 20 years ago!

My favorite musical tastes & artists run the gamut from jazz, rock, Cajun, swing, classical, blues, independent, hard rock, metal, country, … I love just about all music. In the words of Louis Armstrong, “If it sounds good, it is good.” I love all music that sounds good. There are so many talented musicians “out there,” and I play for my own fun and happiness. Maybe some day I’ll be able to join one or two of my favorite artists on stage for a lick or two. 

I’m working on playing a different song in every single state of the United States. I look forward to releasing a song per week for the next 4-6 months or so! In June, 2023, I purchased an electronic violin, an amp, and some other fun things, and I’m exploring new sounds with this instrument I love so much. I’ve long fancied myself a Rocker Chick, and I finally get to try being one, now.
