Written in 1915, the Sonata for Harp, Viola and Flute was the first important composition for the instrumentation. Debussy wrote the Sonate during the most hardest moment of his life: 1)the beginning of WWI- Debussy wrote his publisher, Durand, about the works of this time "I don´t want my works performed before we don´t know France´s fate, because France can´t not laugh or cry while so many of our men are facing the possibility of a heroic death 2)he had colon cancer and knew that he didn´t have so long to live..

The chamber ensemble Sinfonietta VivazzA is pleased to announce a collaboration with the Dutch-Peruvian composer Maria Alejandra Castro Espejo on a comission that celebrates the life of the Afro-Peruvian activist, feminist and community leader María Elena Moyano (1958-1992). This project will feature Sinfonietta VivazzA with a soprano soloist (who will embody the character of Moyano) and will be premiered in 2022. ¡Viva la Vida! will explore the tragedy of Moyano’s assassination and pay tribute to her fight for equality and women’s empowerment. In 1998, a movie was released based on her life; however, this new, 45-minute dramatic song cycle will be the first musical composition written about Moyano (2022 marking 30 years since Moyano’s death). This project is funded, in part, by Fonds Podium Kunsten/Performing Arts Fund of the Netherlands, the Artist Stipend from the NRW- Corona-Hilfen Fund, the Initiative Freie Musik e.V and Cultural Office of Cologne, as well as an Ensemble Stipend  from the Federal Council of the Arts as part of their "NeuStart" Funding
