Reading Frances Shelley's biographical story, you can't help but feel inspired. Now, in her early 70s, this neo-classical pianist's and composer's roots go back to being a rebel and a romantic from a very young age. "I can tell many tales from my days as a wild child in 60s London; from working with David and Angie Bowie in the early 70s, the 10 years I spent travelling the world as a fashion model followed by a life-changing stint in rehab in 1981 (before it became fashionable!)” she jokes. “To being a single mother and starting a successful event business in my home.” A decade ago, Shelley decided to pursue her passion for music, and now, multiple years and self-released albums later, she's been signed to Manners McDade, the composer agency and publishing house for Nils Frahm, Caitlyn Aurelia Smith, Poppy Ackroyd. Shelley captures the stories of her eventful life through beautifully layered keys, gently orchestrated arrangements, and carefully measured dose of electronic post-processing, to create atmospheres that swoop in with warm winds of her sonic valley and raise your spirits to fantastic heights. The eleven pieces on her upcoming album, Songs Of Possibility, are also influenced by the events of the last year, "travelling through realms of regret, grief and loss, towards optimism and a sense of excitement for living." In these unprecedented times, we've all found a moment to ask ourselves of 'what it is,' and more importantly of 'what can be'. In this reflection, we'll find a new way to begin. In Shelley's case, it is a dream of music.

"Sing Like the Birds" is an adaptation of the song Lakshmi previously released by Sam and Mollie. With lyrics that give permission to shed fear and shame, it beckons you to cast away the veils of hiding and make the choice to say yes to life, to love, and to the possibility of living with your heart wide open. Inspired by Lakshmi's symbolism of the lotus flower, which gracefully blooms atop the water while anchored in the depths, the song mirrors the journey of self-discovery—rooted in the depths of our being while blossoming into a radiant expression of the heart.

As Sam Garrett, Mollie Mendoza, Iyakuh, and Mose join forces, their collective artistry resonates in a symphony that transcends individual expression, creating a sonic tapestry that mirrors the universal call to awaken the heart. "Sing Like the Birds" is an invitation to break free, to step into a realm where fear and shame dissipate, and the heart joyously opens to life's infinite possibilities. I started this tune years ago when I finally got a midi keyboard and the melody just came out. Without any thinking, straight from the soul. As if I had nothing to do with it, as if the music created itself through me! 🌈🎶✨
But then I left it for too long, I almost forgot about it… and then one day I remembered it in a dream and decided to finish it. Sometimes it is good to leave things be for a while, but other times it is sad when beautiful dreams get lost.

Wandering around...I've made a choice for this track title because of the intention of the piano improvisation. It's based on wandering around in a few musical scales, while inspired by some music of Beethoven and Chris Isaak. It feels a bit mysterious in the begin and ends up with a lot of serenity.
