Πόσες φορές βαδίζουμε μέσα στο πλήθος, χανόμαστε, γινόμαστε ένα με αυτό… Διασταυρώνεται το βλέμμα μας με αμέτρητα ξένα, ψυχρά, άγνωστα βλέμματα, χωρίς ουσία αυτή η «επαφή». Ώσπου έρχεται η στιγμή που «συναντάς» εκείνα τα μάτια που δεν είναι ψυχρά, δεν είναι άγνωστα και όλα γύρω σου μετατρέπονται με μιας σε φόντο.

Γιατί μπροστά σου έχεις αυτά τα δύο μάτια σε πρώτο πλάνο. Ειδικά όταν είσαι αδέσποτο σκυλάκι. Εμείς τα αδέσποτα είμαστε ευλογημένα να αγαπάμε απόλυτα. Όταν, λοιπόν, την είδα, τόσο διαφορετική, τόσο ιδιαίτερη, την αγάπησα με όλη τη σημασία της λέξεως. Παράξενο ακούγεται, ε; Κι όμως, εγώ που γνώρισα την εγκατάλειψη ξέρω ν’ αγαπώ αγνά και αληθινά, όπως αγαπάνε τα παιδάκια. Αυτό νιώσαμε όταν «συναντήθηκαν» οι ματιές μας. Η αγάπη μας ήταν αυτόφωτη. Υπήρχε πριν καν υπάρξουμε εμείς. Απλώς έπρεπε η ζωή να μας φέρει κοντά. Και είμαστε τυχεροί. Αν σκεφτείς ότι κάποιοι έρχονται και φεύγουν χωρίς να έχουν γνωρίσει ποτέ την αληθινή αγάπη…
