An extract from a recent set, SonarMix 021 is the sound of contemporary techno at its “darkest, most obsessive, industrial and futuristic” according to Angel Molina. Just a month ago, Answer Code Request and Amotik washed Fuse over with a gripping 3 hours back-to-back. And among the countless ephemeral alliances that have animated our Room 01 in recent years, this pairing is hailed as one of the most harmonious and intuitive we’ve ever had.

With a constant, fluid rhythmic approach, Answer Code Request and Amotik combine the best of both worlds. Sometimes hypnotic, straightforward or uplifting, you don’t need more than a few tracks to understand that those two enjoy playing together. Kerrie started a label called Dark Machine Funk, a name which hints toward the kind of music she plays. And while the Irish artist might be a capital-T techno DJ, her idea of "dark" is a little different than the black-clad legions of her generation. You won't find whiplash-inducing BPMs or racy pop edits in her sets. Her idea of techno is more classicist, without veering towards the stuffy or the retro. Her DJIng and her productions bridge the divide between Euro and  American styles. Hints of breakbeat or other broken patterns bring in ideas from the UK techno that she loves so much, such as the pivotal label Blueprint, where she's become a regular  as of late.

With her, the devil's in the details (listen to those deliciously twisted hi-hats in recent track "Transient Belief"), and that comes down to mixing records, too. Her RA Podcast is a fast but measured run-through of 90 minutes of techno by artists like Exium and Tensal and from labels such as Token and Soma. Though none of her own tunes make the tracklist, this mix perfectly captures Kerrie's style. She's someone who appreciates that the real power and force of techno comes from its groove, not just the impact of the kick drum or pure speed.

Kairogen is a Glasgow-based artist whose unique sound seamlessly blends ambient house and deep techno, creating an exciting and distinctive identity within the electronic music scene. The name "Kairogen" is a creation of the artist, derived from the Greek words "kairos" meaning the right moment, and "gen" meaning to generate or create.
 
This name encapsulates the artist's belief in the power of seizing opportunities to create and inspire others to cultivate their own conditions for creativity to flourish. Kairogen's journey into music production began during her time at art school when a lecturer suggested incorporating a sound piece into an installation project. This sparked her passion for club culture and led her to delve into the world of Detroit techno and electronic music as an art form.
 
Through her work in album art and her experiences at Sub Club, a renowned nightclub, Kairogen gained a deep understanding of the electronic music scene and honed her musical preferences. The influence of peak-time music in the club environment has greatly impacted her own artistic style, driving her to explore sounds that complement the edges of dance music. Inspired by the drama and tension found in DJ sets, she gravitates towards the ambient and experimental side of the electronic spectrum.
 
Kairogen has already played at some of the best clubs and festivals in the scene, performing alongside well known artists within the scene such as Avalon Emerson, Slam and Amelie Lens.
