Greetings to you all from the Kulture Lab crew! We’re excited to be back after taking a little break from social media madness and online life. Today we’ll be getting the ball rolling with our usual Soundcloud invites series and we have a lot more planned moving forward into the year with releases every month, Twitch streams and more. 

Turning the focus back to our next episode, we’re very happy to introduce @rydeenrydeen who has provided an amazing show for our return. Rydeen is a musician, DJ and radio host living and working on unceded Wangal and Gadigal land (aka Sydney, Australia). Ry co-hosts the long-running weekly club music show, “Spin the Bottle" on Sydney community station, FBi Radio. Their work has appeared on Juke Bounce Werk, Balamii Radio, Dublab, triple j and alongside the Australian Chamber Orchestra. 

An impressive portfolio to say the least! We’re extremely lucky to have this opportunity to work with such an interesting artist and we’re ecstatic to get this show up for you all to enjoy. After encountering a green-sounding sound in a leafy spring/autumn, I kept myself looking for it – losing it, and… wandering lost, and… then being surrounded by it, when I didn’t expect it – looking back over my path, I could see a four-pointed constellation cast up from four different bpm-ecosystems, and an ambient core that had rose up and held a sundown’s worth of its sound-citizens’s dreaming – and then the pink wind blew my hair in my face again.

Lithe in their perpetual movement and fearless in their curiosity, these five tracks are sewn together with an organismic intuition. Threads of club structures bubble up through spiraling ambience–unfamiliar textures appear and reappear until revealing a patient songcraft.

The first Unsound Podcast recorded live at the 2023 Kraków festival is from Rama, a Berlin-based Egyptian DJ who’s notorious for her technical and ornate patchworks of mutant club music and rap. She also curates the Irsh imprint and event series alongside ZULI, using it to shine a spotlight on artists from the Levant.
Rama’s set closed out one of Unsound’s club nights with drama, inventiveness and adventure, tracking through UK bass music styles, Brazilian funk, dubstep and drill, and gesturing towards the future.
