I was a broke-down artist rebuilding my life after homelessness. For a while, we were brothers — two lost souls watering dead ground, talking about God, life, and our lives. But drugs and demons took hold, and one night, he came to my door with a gun. My wife and I fled. I asked God to take him out of my life. The next day, he killed someone else, an unarmed woman, and is going to prison, probably for the rest of his life.  

This song is about that moment — about guilt, mercy, and how art and faith can still save what the world destroys.
