This is just bad.

for some reason i mixed it ear-bleedingly loud, and thought that 6 notes on repetition for 3 minutes was an acceptable substitute for a melody.
Too much reverb, nonsensical drums, too many sounds that don't fit together going on at once; everything I hate all together in an unpolished mess.

It's not been that long since I made this, yet I actually can't listen to more than the first second without burying my head in shame. 

It's not THAT bad, I just hate it.

I would not recommend listening to this with bass-heavy headphones. I've got a pair of IEMs (that aren't really even that bassy) that I tested this on and it almost hurt my ears. (mar 17 2022 edit -- this was almost certainly because i did a shit job of mixing it)

This was going to be a more "traditional" (for me)dnb style track,  similar to buildin' brix, but I decided to take some inspiration from KINREK and I think it turned out better than it would've otherwise.

I've already spent 2 and a half days with my computer on only suspending it when I sleep so the parts that kinda bug me are there to stay.

a rare moment where my musical inspiration kept its momentum throughout the process

im quite disappointed in the mix. i tried my best to clean it up as there were quite a few dirty sounds, but im still completely in the dark when it comes to mastering. you can hear everything i wanted to be heard in the mix fine enough... its still rough

its a lot louder than i would like, and noticeably compressed, especially towards the end. there is a crash cymbal loop that made me rip my hair out because the samples just wouldn't cut through without also being loud enough to clip, so i aggressively mangled them with maximus until they sounded marginally less shitty

i was really unsure of how that super groovy drum beat i wrote very late in the process would sound at the end, and, barring poor mixing, it turned out great

most of my best ideas are ones that im really unhappy with, then i take a break just long enough to forget that ive made them, only to come back and be like "I THOUGHT THIS SUCKED??"
