Next up on @idlecellars mix series we have a dear friend, legendary Dj, selector and producer @felix-dickinson blessing us with his unique style and effortless flow. Some sweet unknowns and a few lost classics thrown in, a perfect journey from start to finish.

Felix has been part of the UK's underground dance scene for the last 3 decades, learning his trade DJing at free parties and illegal raves and co-founding his first record label Ugly Music in the 90's. He's produced records for well renowned record labels worldwide including DFA, Rush Hour, Eskimo, Golf Channel, Claremont 56, Futureboogie and his own label Cynic.

He has secured slots at well known clubs and festivals across the globe, and the last few years have seen him receive a lot more attention due to his high profile residencies for Block 9 (Glastonbury) and Croatia’s Love International as well as regular appearances at Houghton, Gottwood, Thailand’s Wonderfruit festival and regular tours of Japan, the USA and beyond.

"The brief for this mix was something that you could listen to with a glass of wine in your hand as the sun goes down. It’s a pretty mellow early evening selection, something you can unwind to at the end of the day, but get’s a little more lively as the second and third glass goes down, so could just as easily be something to bung as you’re getting ready to go out."

Paul Hillery is a relentless seeker of musical treasures. Uncovering lost gems which he initially documented on the 'Folk Funk and Trippy Troubadours' blog and YouTube channel. He is the creative force behind the celebrated BBE Music series ‘We Are The Children Of The Sun‘, releasing 3 critically acclaimed compilations in the last 18 months, alongside this he has curated a number of well-received reissues for the label. He has also curated 2 compilations in the ‘Folk Funk & Trippy Troubadours’ series for RE:WARM. Receiving praise from all the right places, including BBC 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne compilation of the week, Gilles Peterson giving his records plenty of airtime and rave reviews in Uncut, Shindig! Test Pressing and CLASH. He has gained a reputation for his continued deep digging and archival of lost music. And has built long-standing relationships with artists with a mission to give them the exposure they deserve.

Paul has carried his record box to many a venue, playing alongside The Polyphonic Spree, Arthur Lee & Love, Bonnie Dobson, Spiritualized, 4 Hero, Happy Mondays, Simian, The Bees, Julian Cope, Courtney Pine and many, many more. He has also graced the turntables at Spiritland, Refuge, Festival No.6, Lunar, Edinburgh Fringe, Psychemagik’s Magik Forest, The Chill Out Tent, Moseley Folk & Arts, Stowaway, We Are Love, and countless others. We're back! 

It's been a brief hiatus, but as they say, "ain't nothin' to it but to do it!". Idle Cellars returns with a new look and more wonderfully chilled and eclectic DJ mixes for your listening pleasure. We have lots going on behind the scenes so watch this space!

We kick things off with renowned recluse and self-proclaimed Record Weasel James Glass! A native Londoner, James fled to the West Coast in the early 90s after a stint in NYC, immediately establishing himself in the local vinyl & DJ scenes with expert-level knowledge of soul, funk, disco, house and more. Thirty years later, James has seen a career that's brought him to play at everything that's worth playing in San Francisco, to successful disco edit label collabs with Wicked founder DJ Garth and Chicago hustler Zernell, to curating the third volume of Dave Lee's Under The Influence compilation series for Z Records and, in the past few years, quite possibly being at least partially responsible for the best outdoor daytime parties the Bay Area has seen in quite some time. James is the opposite of the modern, look-at-me-at-all-times social media DJ, much preferring to toil away weaseling the world's greatest records and occasionally appearing outside his home. 

"Good Feelings" is one for Sunday mornings,..into Sunday afternoons with wistful easy listening joints, proper soul, grooving dub and reggae, heady baroque pop, AOR funk and of course some disco and boogie to liven things up towards the end. Perfect for road trips, sunbathing, a well-rolled blunt or sunsets in warm weather....
