War of the Monochrome is a song i made for Check X Mate, an upcoming chess puzzle game with visual novel elements by Sliced Kiwi Studios!

About the song:
I was asked to make a memorable battle theme for the chess puzzle sections of the game, so i wanted to do my best to make the song feel like it could fit a wide variety of situations and game difficulties, gradually building up from a relatively more bombastic intro to more melodical sections, but with plenty of intermissions inbetween, in my opinion, this would fit the more difficult chezz puzzles in the gameplay because you'd be listening to the song for longer if you are struggling
I went for some progressive time signature choices, and also went with some more key changes than usual because i felt like it could help with giving the song more of an unique identity
In terms of inspirations, i would say that Rei Kondoh's works were in my head a lot when i was in the planning phases of this song

Sonic 4 - Death Egg Mk II (Genesis Extended)

This was for the Starry Night Zone Boss music that was going to be in Sonic Legends but then was later scrapped since we dropped the level entirely. I did later make 2 tracks for act 1 and 2 at a later date and will upload it.

The Orignal was much faster and with a higher pitch too and this was the 1st track i worked on for Sonic Legends.
