As part of the first batch of tapes of 2022/23, Artetetra is presenting the first four tracks of a split featuring two éminences grises of minimal but highly imaginative audio storytelling. Kinked and Señor Service, who fully deserve the title of bedroom superstars, use their screens and musical tools as gateways and magic wands to dissolve the listener into uncertain and nebulous musical worlds, creating the clever illusion of a narrative. But remember, it's just an illusion! Pure audio préstidigitation for children and adult mammals alike.

Kinked describes itself as leftfield-ritualist of vocal gestures and granular realities. Part of the Riforma crew, he is also known as the visual and text researcher Lapo Sorride; also known as the tenco-grime lyricist Dori Sorride.

Señor Service is the solo project of Umberto Pasinetti, formerly 1/2 of New-Weirdo-Vibes label Pampsychia. Started in 2019 as a tender and humoristic music project, Señor Service feeds on cheeky plunderphonics and dreamy FM synthesis. It is 100% certified as always satisfactory. Until now, he has always delivered.

Delving into Kinked’s and Señor Service’s audio tales always feels like living instrumental coming-of-age adventures where the plot is tangled, multilinear and seldom controlled by actual characters...

SPA was founded in 2018 in Cologne and is focusing on club music with a global perspective. The label is run by Salon des Amateurs resident Phillip Jondo, France 98 aka DJ Brom and Friday Dunard who put in their different musical backgrounds and influences together, ranging from Baroque choir music to high definition experiences. For their monthly show on NTS they reflect on current moods, play the labels output and invite artists around them.

The ninth show in the Cyrk series ‘Pattern Compulsions’ curated for Resonance 104.4FM, is an exclusive mix by multidisciplinary artist Mark Fell.
Mark is a multidisciplinary artist based in Sheffield (UK). After studying experimental film and video art at the local polytechnic he reverted to earlier interests in computational technology, music and synthetic sound. In 1998 he initiated a series of critically acclaimed releases, featuring both collaborative and solo works, on labels including Mille Plateaux, Line, Editions Mego, Raster Noton and Alku.

Although working in electronic and techno music traditions, Mark’s practice has become increasingly informed by non-European musics. This is evident in two recent linked works “Multistablity” and “UL8” which explore a number of unfamiliar timing and tuning systems. Uncut magazine called these “completely mind-blowing” and the Wire said these were “amazing”.

As well as recorded works Mark also produces installation pieces often using multispatial speaker technologies. His work in this area is characterized by ‘non illusion based’ approaches to surround sound environments. This methodology became prominent in a work commissioned by Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary (Vienna) in collaboration with Roc Jiménez de Cisneros in 2008. For this the two artists developed a 48 speaker piece that rejected complex three dimensional panning systems in favour of spatially static synthetic sound. Critically Mark’s work is informed by Western philosophy, especially the writings of Heidegger and Wittgenstein.
