Patlac is no stranger to the international electronic music scene. Well-known for his empathy and sense for beauty, he's one of the few artists with a special gift for capturing moods and atmospheres and crafting them into beautiful music that speaks directly to the heart.

LA NUIT is a soulful, warm, glimmering tune that transports you back to starry nights spent on the beach, dancing barefoot in the sand, while the summer breeze plays upon your skin.

Lithuanian-based duo Downtown Party Network who lately stirred a buzz with their 'Space Me Out' EP, that got massive support by artists like Dixon, Âme, Mano Le Tough and many more, deliver a stunning remix for LA NUIT. Their version perfectly keeps the mesmerizing vibe while transforming the track into a smooth grooving, infectious, bass-driven dancefloor tune - what a beauty!

FIRMAMENT is the third part in the bundle - atmospheric, dark and full of tension; rounding off the EP perfectly.

Soulfooled Podcast 030 by Garance

Soulfooled, lovingly curated since its inception in 2010 by German producer Alex Niggemann, has established itself as a crucial platform for fresh talent, focused on sonic innovation that is unfailingly fresh and original, with its own distinctive brand of house music. The label’s next exciting musical instalment is the debut EP from a new Italian star in the making – Retsu – a Milano-based electronic music producer.

Retsu (meaning “line” in Japanese) is the artist’s metaphorical guise, representing a shift to a different, darker musical palette, influenced by the myriad of shapes, colours and sounds he was exposed to on a weekly basis during his decade-long exploration of the European clubbing scene – a musical education that now bears fruit with some exceptionally creative tracks for his Soulfooled debut.

From the wonderfully atmospheric and infectious opener - “Disclaimer” - it is hard not to be enthralled within Retsu’s diverse cathedral of sound. The throbbing funk of “Better Than Time”, complete with its subtle, juxtaposed, melancholic piano and synth lines, make it an irresistible musical delight. The deeply dark and delicious, heavy duty beats of “Mrs. B”, show yet another side of Retsu’s standout inventiveness. Finally, Swiss artist Garance (who made her Soulfooled debut earlier in 2015 with the remarkable “Loro Cabeciazul EP”) delivers a suitably energetic finale to Retsu’s EP, with a truly exceptional interpretation of “Disclaimer”.

When an exciting new, highly original artist emerges,
it is often interesting to take note of their background. As an electronic music teacher and co-founder of a production studio in his hometown, Retsu has worked as producer, composer and guitar player, moving through many shapes of music, including jazz, indie rock and pop to reach this point in his musical journey. Maybe this diverse background is what gives him his electronic edge? His music certainly resonates with a dark and strangely fresh sound, drawing from the past and looking to the future. Now, dropping his debut release on Alex Niggemann’s Soulfooled, Retsu is defi- nitely an artist to keep an eye on.

The summer season 2015 is kicking into action in the northern hemisphere and Alex Niggemann’s Soulfooled is proud to present “Cribs Vol.2”, the long-awaited next instalment in a series that originally launched to much critical acclaim in July 2012, utilising the “various” format to bring more of the evolving Soulfooled family together in one “crib”.

BOg is a Romanian electronic music composer and DJ (based in Paris); deeply passionate about music since childhood he is an artist who is steadily rising to prominence. The delicious melodic throb of “Stardust” makes it the perfect teasing, euphoric opening track here. Fellow label newcomer, Dresden’s enigmatic Felkon, follows and proves what a great discovery he is with the mind-bending excellence of “Creixell”.

One of the scene’s most underrated artists has got to be Switzerland’s David Durango, who as an established Soulfoooled artist delivers the finest experiments in sound with a passion and dedication to electronic music that began in the early 90’s. “White Fish” is yet another enthralling aural masterpiece, featuring his trademark intricately constructed drum patterns.
Galician producer David Granha further fires up the party with his “My Colour Is Black”, a joyous Latino- themed, hip-wiggling track featuring piano and saxophone parts that cannot fail to bring a smile to even the most serious beard. Finally, Adam Zimniak and Robert Mordziński (aka Dasein) from Poland’s third- largest city (Lodz), also deliver their Soulfooled debut. The stunning “Moon”, showcases perfectly the duo’s eerie, cinematic melodies combined with a deep and dynamic vibe.

The melodies start soft and delicate before voodoo screeches rear their head alongside thick, bellowing bass strikes.

If this is what locking yourself away in a hut produces then we're off to the Italian Alps now.
