A key figure in the electronic dance scene in Cologne, Germany, David Hasert cues up a new release for BLOND:ISH’s ABRACADABRA label, and invites some close friends to collaborate with on the opulent ‘The Sky Is Crying’ single.  With previous releases for Dantze, Katermukke and the Like Records label, Hasert shapes an emotionally uplifting modern day classic, that includes a remix from Niconé.

“After working in many studio rooms without a view, I decided that I would no longer be producing music without a window in front of me.  There's a lot of things that inspire me, like movies, old records and especially just looking up at the sky.  We had a big flood here in Germany and it rained for days.  One day I decided to record the sounds of the thunder and the rain on my window.  My friend Francesco Mami, whom I met years ago at Burning Man, was there, and played some melodies on the piano, and from then on, the idea behind "The Sky Is Crying” grew. The lyrics are inspired by a Gary Coleman classic blues track.

For “Home”, I collaborated for the first time with my good friend Esther Silex.  Usually I mostly work alone, or with Frankie who is helping me shape my sound, but in this case Esther and myself decided to start a track from scratch.  I like the way the track flows and that it’s untypically not just working towards a drop or ‘a moment’. It just flows and flows…

On April 14th, 2015 i went to Casablanca (Morocco) to work on a very particular and uniq project called Boddhi Satva meets Gnawa. 

This EP consist of 4 live recordings created and recorded live for this special occasion. Put together by one of Ancestral Soul number 1 fan miss Rita Mediouni as a celebration event for the 1 year anniversary of her 152 Concept store. 

Maalem Hammam, and his band have inherited this gift from their fathers and forefathers. A gift that is here for the first time mixed together with my music.  

In Moroccan popular culture, Gnawas, through their ceremonies, are considered to be experts in the magical treatment of scorpion stings and psychic disorders. They heal diseases by the use of colors, condensed cultural imagery, perfumes and fright.


For those who may not know about the Gnawa's: 
The Gnawa (or Gnaoua, Ghanawa, Ghanawi, Gnawi) people originated from West Africa; to be precise the ancient Ghana Empire of Ouagadougou (present day Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Burkino Faso and 85% of Mali (pre Gnawi/Mali Wars)).
