My name is Alec Hamilton. I run pleasure gallery which is mix series and radio show. I also put on music nights here in Bristol, UK. 

> q. is there a story behind the mix?

I wanted to make something quite tender and introspective. I chose tracks that I’ve spent time thinking, wandering and musing to since I first got into electronic music. I’m a big chess nerd and recently watched an old documentary about Garry Kasparov, former world chess champion. I enjoyed how it explores the theme of human vs machine, so I thought I’d throw in some excerpts from it for some extra spice. 

> q. what's the best way enjoy your mix?

I think it suits time alone, a long journey to see old friends or a lazy Sunday. 

> q. describe a favourite object in your living room...

My friend bought me a signed photo of Jason Statham as a housewarming present. It's so ridiculous but I love it, probably the weirdest gift I’ll ever receive, creates a lot of laughs. 

> q. are you working on any projects right now (music or not music)?

I held my first pleasure gallery event a few weeks ago and I’m looking forward to hosting more of those.

For decades, electronic music has united entire subcultural communities, but scene-building often grows out of creative bonds and close-knit collaborations. B2Beats delves into the unique personal relationships and sonic conversations that emerge from sharing an hour-long session on the decks.

Melbourne duo @HTRK (Nigel Yang & Jonnine Standish) have a well-storied history reaching back nearly two decades. From a back-catalogue comprising of significant releases on imprints like @Ghostly International, Mistletone and Boomkat Editions, collaborations with luminaries such as Mika Vainio, Rowland S. Howard & @benfrost, and appearances at numerous key events around the globe (including the legendary @berlinatonal festival, Krakow's @unsound and Vivid at the Sydney Opera House), their impact on a vast array of listeners and scenes is indelible and difficult to overstate.

As a two-piece band, their melancholic, sensual music lies roughly at the intersection of post-punk, no-wave, shoegaze and art-rock, with influences from IDM, industrial, noise, dub-techno, pop and beyond. Indeed, it is this eclectic palette, combined with deep knowledge and curiosity that has recently seen them contribute a captivating ambient score for Jeffrey Peixoto's documentary "Over the Rainbow" and regularly deliver genre-defying mixes on platforms like @secretthirteen and NTS.

A starting theme and departure point for HTRK's Patterns of Perception 74 is the ocean. This intricately assembled collection of music finds a natural ebb and flow amongst rich, organic synths and delicate abstract melodies. Building from a slow and introspective beginning, the duo intuitively and carefully guide the narrative to also incorporate gentle energy and a sense of strangeness. 
Viewed holistically, this mix is invigorating and luxuriously diverse, with a true chameleonic quality that allows the listener to take something different from every listen.

Expect a selection of unreleased songs from Melbourne friends, and music that touches the ambient, art pop and Illbient / Triphop territories.
While we are still in the midst of this global pandemic, that is not reflected in Laila Sakini's vibrant release output this year. Thank goodness some labels and artists are still able to keep pushing records that let us sunbathe in beauty in these cold times, and make our lives a little more beautiful in these days. 
Laila released this year a beautiful album on Total Stasis just before Covid kicked in, did an EP on Boomkat and Self Released 2 EPs.
As London-based, Australian DJ and musician, her work is characterized by serenity, friction and openness.
