Happy new year and welcome to 2024! Bright Patterns welcomes Garçon from Switzerland for this new chapter of the show. He’s a resident at Elysia in Basel and co-runs Amenthia Recordings with Agonis. More often than not, we have the pleasure of hearing his deep cerebral explorations of rhythm, building sets and mixes with thoughtful intention for the dance floor. While I and many others enjoy these recordings again and again, he presents a softer side here that’s equally as brilliant. “I wanted to play music i'd like to listen to in the morning or stay in bed to” he added. Vardae’s creative world is deeply rooted in the psychedelic experience. Dreamed up by an auditory alchemist, Vardae’s highly imaginative take on techno combines microscopic detail, intricate rhythms, celestial soundscapes, and a pervasive depth that pushes listeners to the edges of their perception.

Vardae’s sound is visceral, exuding a ritualistic quality and an alluring, primal energy that bridges the gap between music for the body, mind, and the spirit. The resulting works are metamorphic—dynamic, hypnotic, and immersive sounds spanning forward-thinking techno, hypnotic half-time, and contemporary drum and bass.

Beyond his productions, Vardae’s creative vision extends to his work with Ewo ‘Eyes Wide Open’ Collective, where he curates multisensory experiences like ‘House of the Singing Wood’. This quadraphonic sound haven has been showcased at Europe’s premier festivals, including Per:sona, La Nature, and Monument, offering audiences a space for reconnection and transformation. Ewo also host regular Rituel Résonance events and a bi-monthly Chimera show on LYL Radio further provide platform for guests of shared values. A proponent of collective approaches to sound, Vardae also contributes to the growing gathering that is Ouroboros, a french festival and events series hosted alongside 13 friends.

Vardae continues to pioneer the convergence of psychedelic sound, visual artistry, and cultural curation. Undoubtedly one of my favourite artists at the moment, I am incredibly grateful to have had Vardae on the show! Broadcased live on PBS on the 27th December, 2024.

OCCA (ARCHIV)

OCCA has been organizing ARCHIV for over 10 years at the sacred club, Precious Hall in Sapporo, located in the northernmost region of Japan, Hokkaido. With his own party ARCHIV at the core, he has been expanding his scope of activities from all over Japan to the rest of the world. As an entity of singularity, he aims to transform time/space/spirit into unknown realms by arranging multifaceted elements such as the spiritualism of Psychedelic Music, the storytelling nature of House Music, the sci-fi dystopian feel of Detroit Techno and the trance of Minimal Music in a three- dimensional way through his deft mixing.
His rare presence has been recognized and he has been invited to play at DJ NOBU's Future Terror, Mindgames' The Labyrinth/Balance, and in recent years, has been invited to parties in Asia, Spekki Webu's Mirror Zone 5 Years Tour in EU, System Revival and Georgia's prestigious Bassiani, his circle of resonance continues to spread out.

Next up in our mixseries is Sindh, previously known as 9beats. Sindh is a project born in 2021, with a hardware heavy sound, merging modular frequencies and tribal percussions creating his very own signature sound. His Komudo series, along with releases on respected labels like IDO, Lowless, and A-Biotic, has helped carve out a distinctive sonic identity—one that nods to the shifting tides of the millennium while staying fresh and forward-thinking. His signature sound has found a home in clubs like Garage Noord and Macadam, as well as festivals like Monument, Above Below, and Ouroboros.

In this mix Sindh takes us on an all-vinyl trip, digging deep into his crates, weaving together a vinyl journey that tunnels through both old-school and futuristic sounds. Acid-laced techno, rolling trance, and hypnotic pulses twist and turn, blurring the lines between past and present. One hour for deep listeners and adventurous dancers alike.
