“You were sitting three rows down from me. You were wearing all black: cap, sweater, and sneakers. An inconspicuous look… to blend in, to hide, to be alone? The attempt of being unnoticed seemed severe to the point where you stood out amongst the crowd. I watched the back of your head bobbing side to side, up and down, with headphones softly hidden underneath the waves of your hair. As the lights went down, you pulled out your headphones and relaxed into your seat with both arms up on their rests.
Maybe I imagined it, maybe I dreamt it, but every time there was music our bodies shifted in unison. Like a dance, we were reacting to the sounds, the movements, the stories presented to us. I couldn’t help but watch you in my periphery, wondering how you would respond. We both flinched. Did you just feel the same? I watched you caress your cheek. I watched you hold your hand. I watched you clench your fists.  
At the film's end the whole theatre was dark. Silence. The lights went up, and just like that, you were gone.”


EEJUNGMI is the musical project of Katie Lee, a creator in both architecture and music. Katie approaches her work with an interdisciplinary understanding of sound and space to communicate her emotional explorations. Her mixes are an important extension and footnote to her own music. This mix features different contexts in which music is played within film, and as much as possible, outside of its score.
