I wrote this song based on a poem of Josiah Patteson for my senior project at college. The song deals with the struggle of questioning the Will of God while remaining faithful to it, examined through the story of Abraham going to sacrifice Isaac.

Peter Barry wrote this song, and it meant so much to me that I asked him if I could make it collaborative and put in on my Senior Practicum. He graciously agreed, and I added two verses and produced it. The song is inspired by the suicide of Maltbie Davenport Babcock, who originally wrote the hymn "This Is My Father's World." Contrary to the original hymn, instead of meditating on the ever-present beauty that reveals God's handiwork, this song meditates on the ever-present suffering and grief that reveals our longing for redemption and our faith in a redeeming God. I wrote this hymn with my dad, Gregg Strawbridge, for my Senior Practicum. It is a meditation on doubt, grief, and the fight for hope within those consuming struggles. This was sung congregationally at my presentation.
