We hide at noon and rise at dusk.
Our eyes are washed red with the sting of mastering our sound.
Our ear drums ring with the beginning of a beat, and then hum when the sound is tamed.
We hunt indigenous rhythms, mythical ebonies and melodies, traditional raptures, concealed patterns, whispers consigned to oblivion, ancients past, now, ancient to come…. in search of that multidimensional sound.

Our patience has worn thin, now we war! 
Now we demand! 
Now we bite into what was owed with the sharp teeth of a rabid onyx black wolf! 

In the hood (step)?
We are light.
We are movement.
We are wonderfully and fearfully made.
And we will love, 
and we WILL kick, hard against the ribs of a society that refuses to let us …be.

Because nothing exists until we give it permission.

Oh, and the applause?
Keep them.
