Born without arms, Jessica Cox has wrestled with questions of being enough, why God would allow this to happen, and more. Jessica shares how God’s plan wasn’t obvious when she was born without arms but she now embraces her difference and uses it to make the world a better place. Knowing that, to God, she is enough, Jessica became the first person in the world to fly a plane without arms. As an active Catholic in the Diocese of Tucson, Jessica Cox expresses her perseverance in faith, her favorite part of Catholicism, and other faith-filled insights.

Virtuous not Theatrical Relationships

Eternity, death and a time for decision

What is sin? A weight... a debt ...disconnection from the divine. This week Christ is called to judge a woman caught in the very act of adultery? Should she be stoned?  A trap? To be sure. By the end of the chapter, the powers of this world threaten Jesus with stoning. Adultery is an example of sin, but what is sin?

What is sin?

The sin of Adam and Eve leads to the travesty of sinful worship of God and the death of their son Abel at the hands of Cain, the older brother.  The tragedy arises out of false worship. Another eldest son, Jesus of Nazareth will worship God in spirit and truth. He teaches His followers to do the same. The salvific value of true worship this week on OVC.

What is doubt?

The Greco-Roman world had very dark understandings of death and the possibility of continued existence. The Jews, late in their history, came to a belief among, at least the Pharisees, that a resurrection of the dead would happen at the end of time. The Christians upended all of that - Christ is risen and the tomb is empty. Deal with it!
