Couldn't be happier to kick off a six week run of weekly SORRYMIX releases with this fantastic set from our friend Razrbark (@razrbark) playing peak time for her Bossa Nova Civic Club debut 🎶

Stealing some copy here cause its too good --> "Part of the multidisciplinary Boof Sis squad, Razrbark bled into existence following an encounter with a sharp piece of wood during a pool party at a certain upstate music festival. Edge with her on the whimsy of evil."   🩸 🪵 🔪 

We've been fortunate enough to know Cleo for a minute now and her sets never fail to lock us in and bonk us out. Highly recommend listening to her set from the DJ Voices curated Hemlock Nights stage at last summer's Honcho Campout where she masterfully mixed everything from deep dub grooves to an unreleased Sobolik edit of Ray Baretto's "Acid" and The Brian Jonestown Massacre for what was a legit "A Star Is Born" moment for everyone lucky enough to be present!!

The producer best known as Huerco S. accompanies One Day, our record of the year, with two hours of minimal and dub introspections.

This summer, Kansas-raised DJ and producer Brian Leeds released One Day under his revived Loidis alias. Enamoured with the restrained, loopy sounds of early '00s dance music, the album’s eight tracks linger in the air, luxuriating in dubbed-out chords, swung beats and sub vibrations. It's our favourite record of 2024 for a reason. 

It's a sound he's coined, in his typically teasing fashion, "dub mnml emo tech." All winks aside, it’s no wonder One Day became the soothing balm we all needed. In a scene overwhelmed by hard and fast trends, the softer—and Leeds might argue, more sincere—stylings of minimal and dub techno enjoyed a welcome second wind. 

Not only was One Day one of our favourites of the year (more on that this week), but it also inspired us to break our usual no-repeats rule, inviting Leeds back to the RA Podcast under a different alias after his 2019 turn as Huerco S. 

"The prevailing trends in dance music are more and more maximalist," Leeds noted. "I missed restraint, subtlety, and sensuality." Clocking in at just under two hours, RA.965 embodies that ethos in spades.

Nicola Scarpante was influenced since he was a child by the musical world, his father, a pioneer of the first free radio stations in Italy, was born artistically in the early '90s when he approached production in the small home studio, in 1997 his first success, a pop/latin production: Cecilia Gayle " El Pam Pam” which became a global summer hit, in 2004 together with DJ Miki Zara he created the 2Black project and the smash hit “Waves Of Luv” and various house projects including Soulstatic with the voice of Wendy Lewis. Many productions supported by both emerging DJs of the caliber of Erick Morillo. ESSENN is the Nicola’s “house oriented side”, Which has delivered a big house tune called "Here 4 U " on safari music , with beats and addictive vocals that will draw you in for more .
